Ever since I've installed the steel V1 plate I've been getting a low vibration-type noise from the SC every time that I drive. Kind of like a hum. The noise just comes and goes so I'm wondering if its common with the steel plate.
Belt alignment looks fine to me. No frayed belts here because it hasn't come in contact with the walls on the pulley since I've installed it.

 

It is comman to get a HUM at idle if you put your head really close to the blower, kinda near the plate. I believe the noise comes from the Idler Pulley or possibly even the blower a bit. I once un-installed the blower because of that humming noise and installed my old Fenner Drive Pulley that was the original from the kit (>50,000 miles on that pulley) and the noise went away. Thats kinda why I think its the Idler Pulley.
You shouldnt be able to hear the noise when you drive. Its even un-noticable when your just standing at the engine bay.

Sorry, should have been more clearer. The hum occurs when at idle, like waiting at a light or starting the car up each time when the engine is either cold or warm. I can hear it when I'm inside the car. Its the kind of hum you would get if you were to take a dremel, press the dremel body against a flat part of the car and you flip it on. When I drive off the noise eventually gets drowned out by the blower noise.

I've been using the original plastic idler pulley and not the metal idler pulley during this winter.
UPDATE: I was wrong here. Using a new idler pulley from the V1 kit.

Just thinking out loud here: Because steel is a more denser material than aluminum that the engine's vibration is creating a resonance at a certain rpm range?

 

could be the idler pulley going bad or the hume from the belt being stretched from one pulley to the other. Check your belt tension. Plus those plastic pullies are only good for 30 to 50k max. after that they are unpredictable when they will go. $25 to replace it...which you can do without taking the blower out

 

I took another look at my setup.
The idler pulley is brand new and should be ruled out. This is the V1 kit that matty put out so its reusing the stock tensioner and pulley.

As for belt tension I've got it just right during the winter. I had to tighten the belt a bit to get rid of the micro-belt slip noise. The belt condition is fine as well. No frayed edges. Alignment looks good to the eye but I've been thinking of buying those laser thingys from Home Depot to check the belt alignment to confirm.

Its really weird. At one point while on the way home from work the noise sounded like metal-on-metal. My drive pulley hasn't loosened itself or else I'd hear the marbles-in-a-can noise. I think I'll just swap in the stock belt for the time being until the weather gets warmer so I can work outside.

 

What is the condition of your stock tentioner pulley ?? Thats all metal workings in there, and i would suspect that to be making an noise.

Since you were V2 for such a long time, and you had your stock tentioner laying around, you may have messed up the sequence of the bushings and spacers when you installed your V1 Kit.

That plastic idler pulley is the best on the market. Much better than the Dayco that many are running to this date.

What would be the proper sequence?

 

ohh man...I couldnt even tell you. Im just really careful every time I have it off...I purchased a new one last year and it was totally different sequence then the stock one on my car and few added bushings and washers.

For $40 bucks or so, its worth replacing.
