Lost power and Backfireing??

Today being such a nice day out, i decide to drive my max. I get on the beltway, i havent felt boost for 830miles and am so wanting to feel what this clutchnet can do so. Im on 3rd gear and push it. As the rpms get higher and higher i notice that the car is taking a little long to reach boost. It got to 5psi and felt that the car was struggling to go higher. Hmm this has never happend to me before. I try to punch it again and the car just feels not normal. I pull over and my vac is at 20 my gauges are all fine. I pop the hood and everything looks fine. I get back on the beltway and i can feel my car loosing power slowly. Im cruising on a little hill at 60mph and felt this small little jerk and see my rpm is going down. I slow down and push it for the third time and the car doesnt respond like it did when i had my old motor. Im getting to work and as im changing gears my car is backfireing....POP like if has firecrackers up the ***. I get to work the car sounds normal and what i did notice is that when i rev the engine the rpms drop to about 400rpms and it goes right up but it feels like its gonna shut.

I Know this is kinda long but bare with me here. Im at work and dont have access to a scanner. What can be causing this? Any idea would be very
helpfull.

Thanks
-Albert-

Check your spark plugs too. Are you running one step colder? What gap? Tinkering with your fuel injectors at all? How's your fuel filter? Maybe a failing fuel pump too.

Albert, ^^^ this is what the haynes manual says the faults are. I don't know what an A/T control fault is. If this was happeing to me I would say with your symptoms I would try to figure out P1220, the fuel pump control module first.

Damn, that little brown thing is a pain to get to! Is this what's causing my car to loose power? Remember we took a peak at it before we put the motor back and it looked ok?
