Another turbo...

Well my gt35r decided that it didn't happen to like its ball bearing so the took a crap on me. So I got this

Its a t61 from full-race, I didn't know it was going to be a divided tang. housing, but oh well I dont think I'm going to run that style setup either way. I do have these though

So who knows. The turbo is good for 590 whp, and I do plan on trying to use all of it.

is it a 61 or a 60-1 because that looks like the same turbo i have in my car. Can you rebuild the gt35r?

I think you can only get a new cartridge in it which is like paying for a new turbo... mines sitting in the car collecting dust until this stinking 3.5 project is finish.

What happen to the 35r for it to go to sh*t? Was it made poorly or something else?

Its not rebuildable. I have no idea, when the car was shut off one day I heard a rubbing sounds(metal on metal), I opened the hood, and it was coming from the compressor wheel rubbing on the compressor inlet. Water lines are connected, so I have no idea.

Yep the top picture has the fans still on. Im trying to make these with very few modifications, so far only the bottom tab on the fan had to be cut off.

The pipe on the bottom is going to connect to the rest with a torctite clamp, so its really a two peice design. Still got to weld in the rear o2 bung, the wastegate flange, and make the pipe to connect the two. Ill have some more pictures probably saturday.

yes, it would be like the one picture, this will be a full feed pipe, not just running off of one bank.

Nice job, looks like its coming along well.

Did you fab up a new manifold for the rear or did you just run it from the stock manifold?

Its being ran off of the stock manifold in the rear. I didnt try to make one on the rear because it would be a pita, theres a fair amount of wiring trying to come from the back side that could melt, become brittle from heat, just one more headache to try and deal with

Its a very tight fit, but you could. You wouldn't be able to put a filter on the turbo inlet though.
