Just a few SC setup questions.

Hey guys. I just bought a full SC kit. It is a V2 blower with V2 plate and Lexus idler pulley to fix the belt shredding issues. Coming with a 3" charge pipe and HKS BOV. Im planning to run a 9psi pulley for now. Can this run on stock fuel system at 9psi? Im buying a 13psi pulley and saving it for when I upgrade the fuel system and MAF. So basically, will this SC kit run well on a stock fuel system. Thanks guys. Im new to the boost thing, so forgive me if I ask stupid questions.

At 9psi, you should install a walbro (in tank) fuel pump and an fmu w/ 8:1 disk. I suggest a vortech fmu.

Yes, you can run on the stock fuel system at 9psi, as long as you have the auxilary fuel pump. If not, you'll have to go with the Walbro.

Also, it's a misnomer that the Lexus idler pulley fixes belt shredding issues. Rumors die hard around here.

Also, check what disc is in the FMU. Stock from Stillen, it came with a 8:1. You should start with a 8:1. See how things are running, then maybe make some adjustments.

Sounds like you bought TJMax's setup. Good luck with the install. Gonna install it yourself? You should, it will be very beneficial.

Oh, and be prepared for some compressor surge with the HKS BOV.

Thanks for clearing everything up. So, all I would need would be the Walbro pump. The vortech FMU is included with the install. Now about the BOV, are there any downfalls with the HKS one. What exactly is compressor surge?

Compressor surge is when boosts makes its way back into the blower causing the vaned wheel to spin in the opposite direction.
Its normally caused by the BOV not being large enough to release the unused boost.
The HKS is not designed for a SC. A SC needs to vent during idle, the HKS will not allow this so the boost that is being created by the blower at idle is pushed back towards the blower causing compressor surge.
Go with the Blitz BOV that he was also offering.

Hey Chris, you noob, JK. That compressor surge is pretty annoying. I told you about it. RIGHT NOW, as an auto, you won't get much of it at all. After you convert you'll know what we are talking about. BTW, before I pull the kit off you should come by this week for a test drive, and also so you can feel the compressor surge we speak of. He won't install it himself, i'll be installing it, but he'll know everything that's going on. , congrats on the latest acquisition Chris. I recommend the Blitz BOV I have if the comp surge is too annoying for ya.

Ok good. Now I understand what the compressor surge is. I will probably go with the Blitz BOV then. Thanks for clearing all this up guys.

TJ...I'll give you a call if I have some free time to stop by.

I don't have acces to start topics or send PMs. I apologize for going off topic on this thread, but I am interested in a SC kit for my 5.5 gen. A member on here Matty makes a plate for my car and he says he even carries kits for sale. I'd like more information on the pricing for the kit. Thanks guys, and sorry for interfering.

Have you tried ebay yet? Expect to pay around $85 for a new one, IIRC.

Yes, those are the right ones, but you're paying way too much for all that stuff. You can get the spark plugs at Pep Boys for $1.80 with no s/h charges. The pump I've seen a lot cheaper too. In fact, there was a group deal not too long ago for the pump. Take a look and contact the vendor.

You didn't search your own NYCMAXIMAS GD section. GD is $95 shipped for a 255 hp, brand new. Knucklehead. Ah well, you got it anyway, see you soon.

I DID search the GD section. Its the first thing I did. I tried calling, PMing and IMing the guy. He didnt answer to any of them. Since I needed the pump soon, I just ordered it from somewhere else.

We're going to make the SC fit but TJ and I were talking about the fact that I have a DE-K and the TB is farther back in the engine bay. The 4th gen SC pipes are obviously for the USIM. What exactly do I need to make it fit perfectly on the 00VI. I know I need the 5th gen pipe..but what exactly is the specific piece of pipe called.

Ok guys, everything is in. We had a couple of problems, but we got it running good. On my way home from work today, the car wouldn't pass 3000rpm. It was running beautifully when I picked it up today before work. What could be the problem.

Sounds like you have a leak somewhere in the piping. Check all your couplers.

I forgot to add that the car boosts when it is in park or neutral, but not while it is in gear. The car revs to about 3000rpm and won't go past it.

Hey J, thanks man. Are you talking about the Z32 MAF? I haven't put that in yet because Im running the lower psi pulley and stock injectors. I have cleaned my MAF like last month though.

Ok, now things are just wierd. The car drove perfectly yesterday after I got home from school. When I pulled out of the driveway this morning, the car wouldn't boost, only went to 3000rpm and never passed it. But, the car boosts in neutral or park.

I know this is a long shot, but check to make sure you throttle cable isn't getting caught on something and preventing it from moving freely. This happened to Ptatohed a while ago....his T clamp stuck out to far at the TB and stopped the throttle cable from pulling all the way like it should. Freaked him out.

You have a DEK right? Is your MAF on the charged or uncharged side? Doesnt the DEK MAF have problems if placed on the charged side?

Good thought, but the clamps are turned the other way. They are clear of the throttle cables. He has no boost leaks last I checked. When he picked up the car, as he mentioned, all was well. Only in Park and Neutral can he rev up past 3k and you hear the blow off nice and loud. . He has a CEL for his tranny and it's leaking also. Could this be a tranny issue? Or is it MAF?

This is what happens. Since I've had the car boosted the only time when it doesnt pass 3k is in the morning. Everytime I get in my car to come home, the car runs perfectly, and continues to do so the rest of the day.

Chris, ask about your oil pressure switch also. Why is the connector cut off and why it isn't even connected in any way? I would have fixed it, but I don't know what that was about.
