Yeah I'd be mad about those numbers too... yikes. somehow i have a hard time believing that you gained 110hp and 100ft-lb from an intake and exhaust though. get it on a real dyno and see how it's doing - i'd be interested to see how it is with the changes you've made to it.

I really think this kit is designed more in the lines of the VQ20DE, but even the VQ20DE kit has a T25!

Keep us updated on whats going on.
I think he has been busy at work lately but I know he is planning to hit the dyno again soon

but as far as what changes he has made I do not know

I'd really like to know whats wrong with his setup.
I can't understand how he could get such low numbers...
I'd love to throw this on my 3.5. i would expect to be over 300/300 with this installed running around 10psi...it says it fits..but i'm not willing to be the ginnie pig.

lol i just went to their website.

turbo specialties that is:

Maxima V6 2.0 Engine Model VQ20DE W/T25 BB Turbo [ view ]
Maxima V6 2.0 Engine Model VQ30DE W/T28 BB Turbo [ view ]

when you click the 2nd link they change it to:
Maxima 3.0 Engine Model VO3ODE W/T28 Turbo
should be a Q & 0 not an O

the pics of the two kits are EXACTLY the same as well. the piping looks too small in the pics...maybe it's fine for a 2.0 but not a 3.0 or 3.5 imo.

buying a turbo from a company that lists your engine's displacement 1.0L off...and misspells your engine's model number...and isn't open when i call...and doesn't advertise here on the org...weird.

and there is nothing about the 3.5...so why give instructions for it yet not have it for sale on your website.

these guys sound like a hack job of a company.

sucks as i'd love to buy a kit like this. install looks easy enough.

oh and to the op you got ****ing screwed on having a bung installed in an oilpan. i can't believe you paid that much. i mean thats like...ridiculously absurdly high.

end of rant.

He'll be tuning and redynoing the car in early sept. I driven the car and I can tell you that his dyno is way off. That thing pulls really good and I would say it has to dyno around 230-240whp and not the 215whp that he originally got.

250whp isn't impressive for a turbo'd vq30...

i mean you can hit over 200 for both with boltons...sux.

I agree, I am probably (haven't dynoed yet) pushing about 220whp on a little a$$ t25 at about 7psi in my se-r.

btw I also have a tmic, once I go to to a front mount I'll be raising the boost to about 15 psi. I'll be looking for about 290whp then and over 300flb's of torque. Low 12's here I come!

I'd raise that boost to about 16-18psi on a t28 or swap it out for a bigger turbo...I don't see why the vq30 couldn't handle it??

the vq can hadle it afaik. up to around 350 on stock internals up to about 700 fully built. nissan did with a tt vq in a 350 instead of the 3.5 because they said it could handle the boost better...this was for a top speed challenge if i remember correctly.

also i think they didn't offer a bigger turbo that will fit. obvisouly it could use a bigger one. i'm going to keep trying to contact the company. but i ave little hope of it fitting on my 3.5...

Just because they don't offer a bigger turbo doesn't mean you can't replace it. I would sell the t28, i mean its brandnew, so you can probably get a decent penny for it and then buy something with some more power.

There is simply no way in hell a T28 can make 16-18 PSI on a VQ30. It will struggle to get half of that.

Awaiting results, best of luck!

PLEASE use a dynojet dyno so we can get actual "standardized" comparable numbers

It will fit an 03, you just need to redo the charge pipe that goes to the TB and a bigger turbo

On the instructions, its listed for 97-03 Maxima so, it has its possibilities

I would recommend contacting Doug Adams of Turbo Specialties. I never put this kit on an 03. you might want to be the first one. and Yes if you wanted to put on a bigger turbo, there is room.

Well, my Hotshot headers look very simular(minus the Hotshot y-pipe). I can imagine mocking up the placement of the turbo and just fabricating the "feed pipes" from there; I'm sure it would end up looking very simular to this setup.

Cause if you click on the properties of this picture and go to their main site...... you can see its for a 24V V6 Citroen motor in their product listings.

Thats how I know.

Meh I might have to get a B13 SE-R again, atleast I won't have to beg people to make me a feed pipe so I can turbo my Maxima.

this should answer your question
http://www.importperformanceparts.net/

as long about 250hp is your goal this should be fine, this is quoted right from the website
"Garrett T28BB Turbo:
Get up to 300HP for engines 1.6 to 2.2"

Yes, I can read a compressor map and understand that this turbo belongs on a 1.6-2.2L engine and will almost certainly make no more than 240-250whp on the VQ30 without falling way off the right of the compressor map.

I just am curious how it turns out in reality. On the plus side, the tiny turbo should reach full boost not too much above 2k rpms.
