For Sale - Turbo Kit - Forward Y-pipe style -$1500 OBO
edit: price dropped to $1500 or best offer on Aug 10, 2007
OK guys - my turbo kit is going up for sale. This is the 2nd kit that was on Hal's car - the stainless steel forward ypipe style one.
What's included:
Stainless steel forward y-pipe - mounts turbo slightly behind PASSENGER head light. It looks fantastic and flows superbly. Wrapped in dark gray heat wrap last fall by me, I did a nice job of that by the way - wrapping it was a complete pain in the ****. Never driven in winter so the heat wrap isn't all corroded or stiff or anything.
Custom JabaayFab 3" downpipe with built in 3" exhaust cutout and recirculated wastegate tube, stainless steel flex section, V-band turbine connection, Wideband O2 bung - paid $600 for this to be fabbed up last summer. It goes back to *approximately* where the stock cat sits, but since I don't run a cat, I don't know exactly where a stock cat would sit. Fully wrapped in dark gray heat wrap same as above. The brackets you see bolt to existing holes in the 5spd transmission for support
15.25 x 18.5 x 2" custom radiator - this is FOUR TIMES as thick as the stock 1/2" radiator and half as wide - required because of where the turbo mounts - comes with 12" puller fan already mounted
Tial 38mm wastegate (real one, not one of the fake ebay knockoffs)
2.5" aluminum charge piping flanged for Tial 50mm BOV (BOV itself is not included) - from turbo through intercooler all the through to the MAF - MAF is placed in approximately stock location, though one small custom midpipe after MAF may be required. Includes all couplings (black) and T-bolts clamps
edit: The turbocharger itself and the intercooler are no longer for sale - I am keeping the T61 turbo and the intercooler, updated the price to reflect the change.
I'm trying to think of anything else that would be included, I don't think there is but if I think of anything I'll post up.
This is the kit on which I went 11.7 @ 123mph - so obviously it makes power like it should. This kit has the potential as it sits to flow 650 hp worth of air.
The biggest thing you need to know is that you will lose your AC with this kit because of where the turbo is placed. You will lose your stock radiator and have to use the custom radiator, unless you start cutting and welding and change the kit. If you use the supplied intercooler you will either have to cut or remove your bumper support. A custom bumper support could be fabricated around the intercooler to replace the factory one if you wished to do so. I don't know if this will fit an automatic or not, some modification *might* be required. I don't know if it would fit a car with ABS or not, some modification might be required to clear the ABS module but I'm not sure, you might be fine.
Asking $1500 shipped, or best offer.
Other pictures of the kit can be seen at the original owner of the kit's site, here: http://www.dynomagic.com/thefast_hlh.htm

The same turbo and intercooler would be capable of flowing well over 600whp worth of air.
At only 15psi on pump gas (not race gas) it made enough power to make me the highest 1/4 mile trapping maxima on this board besides MardiGras with his badass 3.5L motor, T66, and nitrous.

sure, shoot me a pm and let me know when you think you want to take a look at it.

Neal, in one of the pictures I see that there is a A/C condenser mounted in-front of the turbo/WG. Why can't the AC be retained ? Compressor clearance issues ?
I've looked at this thread many times now.... thinking bout it. A/C has to be retained.

that's the back of my FMIC. the condenser is gone. it might be possible to do a custom condenser if someone were so inclined, there is some room available but not exactly where the stock one would be mounted.

Was there any clearance with the AC compressor at all ? Also can you possibly tell me how far did that filter or compressor of the turbo stick out ? Lets say from the valve cover to the end of the filter.... I'm trying to see if the turbo would clear my condenser. This setup is all over my head......

The distance between the forward-most part of the timing chain cover and the forward most part of the filter is about 8.5-8.75". There'd be no way to use the kit and have a stock AC condenser without changing something. The wastegate (you can just barely see part of the WG flange below the turbine housing in the top-down pic) would also interfere with the condenser.
Also, and it's kindof hard to tell in the pictures, one of the feed pipes looks like it'd interfere with the stock AC compressor as well (you can see a portion of that pipe in the top-down picture, directly above the red fitting on the oil feed line).
