any thoughts on 4" exhaust?

atm I have a stillen y pipe, full 2.5" piping w/ resonator, and a greddy evo2 muffler. since I am running the 2.62 pulley I notice that there is a LOT of extra backpressure. Im thinking about running a 4" exhaust system the headers back. any input on this idea?

I would vote, NO. 4" is overkill and just pointless.

I think your best bet is to get a Warpspeed 3" y-pipe with test pipe, and make a nice 3" mandral bent system, from the test pipe back to a quality muffler. You wont be dissapointed in the power and sound.

Most BBC drag cars don't even run 4" exhaust.

Unless you have 700whp... nope. 3-inch is enough for ANY boosted maxima.

I know of at least one car that gained power going from 3 to 4in exhaust, but that was a 612whp civic. Like most said way to much for just a supercharged maxima

How in the world did you "notice" there is alot of backpressure? Did you install a pressure gauge in your exhaust and datalog it or what?

To reiterate what everyone else said, 4" = pointless for you.

even if u were to accomplish a 4" downpipe and after, wat about your headers? dont you think they would restrict the airflow. whatever flows into the y pipe is whatever the headers can let out, no matter if u have 4" or bigger. i say invest in headers if u already havent done so.

4" is an overkill. Even 3" is usually an overkill for a lot of FI cars. For some reason, people think they really NEED 3" exhausts. It can't hurt but usually it's not neccessary.
