It has been brought up recently but the dyno results showed disappointing numbers. That may have been due to tuning or boost leak issues, or because the turbo is just too small. I really want to give this thing a try, but I'd rather not pay 2500 for 50whp.

yup, just like the kit they sold in Asia for the VQ25. Its not for those that want large amounts of boost, but a healthy increase in power, and a simpler install.

How much of an increase of hp would you recieve considering I now have a full cattman system from headers on back and injen intake?

look in the s/c forum. there is a big thread on this. someone has it on a 5th gen and only put down 222whp with automatic tranny with this turbo kit.

like mentioned already, it runs on 3 cylinders and the turbo is too small. IMO its a good kit to base a foundation for a greater kit with a bigger turbo that feeds off of the 6 cylinders. but at the end it would cost u the same as the PFI so might as well go with that

No, it runs off 6. There is clearly a crossover pipe right there in the picture, as well as a downpipe from the turbo to the stock catalytic converter location. I just found out a bit about the turbo that is included:

GT2871R
Compressor: 56 Trim .60 AR
Turbine: 76 Trim .86 AR
Internal Wastegate
Ball Bearing
Oil and Water cooled

It does run off 6 cylinders. It might actually be a good kit for the VQ20 or VQ25. Still a VERY small turbo for a VQ30 much less a VQ35.

Where'd you get this info? The website says it's a T25BB which is far inferior to a 2871r. You'd think they'd make a point to mention the 2871R rather than a crappy little T25...

The website (the one in the first post) says T28. I got the information directly from Doug at TurboSpecialties. He gave me the part number for the turbo (743347-2), and I looked up the specs on Garrett's website.

Hmmm - that's good news for people buying the kit - bad news for doc2278 because it sort of eliminates the turbo being the cause of his low dyno numbers.

220hp on a turbo max is just horrible! I read that thread and I cant get a hold of Doc, and why in that thread is he talking about his car being a beast?? I think he might have had a typo on the hp number or something really wierd... My vq30 puts out around that number with intake and cattman pieces...
