What causes psi to drop when removing air filter?

Well I made myself a filter, its basically just a mesh, you can see right thru it. It wont allow for any large objects to damage the blades of the turbo or anything. I plan to use this at the track only. Now, after putting in my home made filter(if u wanna call it that), I went for a run. and im not even close to my previous full boost, i was at 10psi by 2nd gear with the normal cone filter. Now, pressure creeps up very slowly to 5psi, then druing 2nd gears starts going up to about 7psi. I havent seen 10psi yet with this POS filter i made. What can explain this?

Also, as far as buttdyno, the car pulls just as before, i dont get it. Could I have been restricting the turbo's intake inlet with the normal cone and somehow causing for higher boost pressure but not high cfm's as compared to now? I kinda have like a brain fart trying to figure it out. Maybe now its not putting out as much psi but cfm is higher? Or is it possible that this mesh intake i made restricting more than the cone (which i dont find possible at all)

could it be lack of restriction?? if that make since. Like the filter regulates the air and allows psi to build up... That REALLY might not make any sense

No clue, car actually pulls nice, but i dont understand why the pressure is lower without filter than with filter.

Found the answer, the problem is turbulance. The filter actually allows for air to go in the piping more organized, etc...
