Replace Autometer Fuel Pressure gauge?

My gauge needle would be at the 34psi mark when I start the car but once I go to boost the needle pegs at 100psi. Once that happens the needle doesn't drop down when at normal street driving speeds. Last night I made sure my wiring was okay. Now I'm wondering if I should replace the in-cabin gauge or just mount a small one at the fpr only?

How old is your gauge?? Maybe you can get it fixed under warranty.

Autometer only gives a 12 month warranty so I'm SOL. My gauges are at least 3-4 yrs old.

I've been reading a long thread on Prosport Gauges on the Subaru website as a possible replacement.

u know, as much as i thought autometer gauges were the $hit. they are actually a piece of $hit. their customer service is crap too. i ordered an electric boost gauge for $200, the warning button wasnt working right out of the box. returned it and got a new one which wasnt calibrated from factory. autometer told me it would be ok since its electric and that it will recalibrate itself. i took their words and installed it, guess what, the peak button on this one isnt working and it acts funky all the time because it cant calibrate itself properly. 2 gauges in a row, both with problems. i call autometer and ask em if they do a quality check before they send **** on the market and that @ $200 for a gauge, they should get their $hit together. the tech tells me "you can either send it in for warranty repair, or you can keep complaining about the price". i found it funny how they produdly told me i need warranty work when my gauge wasnt even used for 5 minutes.

Check out the pricing on these gauges from Prosport. You can get 3 for under $200USD.

I feel you pain Mike, sucks you're not happy with the gauge.

Are you 1000% sure you hooked it up correctly? That particular gauge is picky as you know. Did you use T taps? or? Did you reread the instructions, line by line? I also provided feedback about the Peak recall button. You never responded to my PM. It may be something simple that got overlooked. It may be that black wire that got pulled out of the harness.

I say return it to your ebay guy, and try one more gauge from somewhere else. IMO, I think there's something to say about buying from a reputable source.

Edit: Sorry Blackcat. I just realized I whored your thread. Mike, call me and Josh.

3-4 years old?? if they are mechanical then you definetly need to send em in for recalibration after that long. or just buy electric gauges.

Shoot, I'm having problems installing that fuel pressure gauge. I wired all of the wires except the orange wire. When I reconnect the battery and the key is in accessory the gauge lights up immediately and stays at about 60psi. When I turn on the engine it hits 100psi and stays there. I'm confused as to what I did wrong. How did you do your wiring?

I forgot the colors but I ran the sender inline with a ground wire and the another to the gauuge

then the gauge had it's own ground, 1 to a switched 12v source, the wire that controls the color of the face to a switched 12v source another wire to parking light and the last wire I did not use.

like I said I do not remeber the colors but when I start the car the face is red and with the lights on the face is white, hope this helps if not I'll look at the wiring and let you know

Thanks for the reply, t6378tp! If you could take a look at the colored wiring when you get a chance that would help me out. I really appreciate it!

I'm not sure about the instructions:
The fuel pressure sensor has a green wire going to 'G' and that goes to the gauge. 'M', however, is shown to go to ground and yet it has the word 'battery' printed underneath it.

I used my original red and black wires from my Autometer to supply the power but my orange one I didn't hook up to anything.

Autometer blows goats. Both The Wizard's and my electronic boost gauges came with 30PSI MAP sensors instead of the correct 15PSI. The Wizard's intake temp gauge is honked. VIP's gauge had mushy buttons. Of the 6 AutoMeter gauges I've been exposed to (Jim 3, Mike 1, Josh 2), 4 were honked (Jim 2, Mike 1, Josh 1).

I'll be replacing my Aeromotive fpr tonight with the AEM fpr. After finding stories about other Aeromotive owner's problems I went and bought a mechanical fuel pressure gauge and mounted it on the fpr. Sadly it also showed a spike in pressure so I'm certain that means the fpr's internal diaphram is at fault. Who knew that losing fuel pressure would do that to the fpr? That also means my Automotive gauge was really fine. If I want to fix the fpr I'd have to send it in for repairs but I'm outside of the warranty so I'm SOL.
