Who makes vq30 Rods and Pistons?

Im wondering who makes aftermarket stuff because as much as im reconsidering turboing, i wont do it without a little insurance. After all this is my DD and i cant afford any big issues. What i was thinking of doing was getting a new motor, lower miles, and put in some aftermarket pistons and rods, replace the engine bearing and clean the engine thoroughly and then turbo that motor.

If your going to go all out and do an engine build, you might as well start off with a VQ35. No one really makes aftermarket internals for the VQ30, it was never used in any real performance cars in the U.S., so there was no demand, unlike the VQ35. You could go with VQ30DET pistons, and custom rods, or just go with custom rods and pistons (pick your manufacture, they almost all do them) if you really want to stick with the VQ30.

The main reason i wanted to turbo was because i ca probably turbo cheaper and easier than a swap(I wouldnt attempt it myself). Im only looking at about 250-300whp(t04e at maybe 5-6psi), its just that with 135k on the car i dont know if a turbo is a good idea without a build up. Custom rods and pistons would run me probably as much as a swap.

Unless you have the skills and machining tools to assemble the engine yourself, a basic engine build with new rods/pistons is going to run your $2000+

if your only going for 250-300, you dont really need any build. a stock 3.0 can take that easily without any problems. and even at 135k miles i say your ok.

I'll be pushing 230-240 whp when I finish my secret little projects hopefully in the next year.

But here's a link for a kit that builds the 3.0 for a good setup.

Here is a link to a thread I started. For 300 Whp you don't need aftermarket rods or pistons.
Pauter makes rods for the vq30.

I would just go for the swap, because unless you can get cheap reliable turbo parts it would be better to do the 3.5 swap. for one reason, no one makes vq30 internal (as far as I know). so if u do the 3.5 swap, you can get pistons and rods at a later date and turbo it.

Also if you want to go an even cheaper route, just get the 3.5 bottom end, it bolts right up to your vq30 head and you dont need to change your computer

So has anyone ever posted how much they paid for their aftermarket VQ30 rods?

My opinion...save yourself alot of time and trouble...Supercharge it!. Your looking for 250-300whp? Well with a supercharger you can get that on like 8 psi (just a random guess) and it will be WAY more reliable then a turbo. I mean if its your daily driver its a better way to go in my opinion. Supercharger would be cheaper then building a motor and then building a turbo setup. But Iam glad you posted this because even though iam planning to supercharge the next maxima i get i want to make 400 hp so the only way to do it with a supercharger is build the motor.
