Fuel delivery question(s)

So id just like to ask this question. I am fairly sure i am alright, but i would like to get some opinions.

Once i get the turbo on, temporarily, i will be running stock injectors, Vortech FMU with 8:1 Disk and the Vortech T-REX Auxillary pump. Stock MAF unless i can get my hands on a Z32 unit before hand.

I have an SAFC2 for the fine tuning.

Initially just to get things up and running and to track possible boost leaks, boost will be wastegate limited at about 5-6psi. I just want to get things up and running before i start swapping out injectors and fuel pumps. That way i dont have those as possible problems.

So my questions are:

1. Is running 6psi with the FMU with 8:1 disk and Vortech auxillary pump okay without getting it tuned?
2. With the above mentioned setup (stock injectors, vortech fmu with vortech aux. pump), what is the most boost i can safely run, of course with the Z32 MAF. I think 6psi will be pushing the limits of the stock MAF.
3. For those of you who had the original Vortech SC kit or any one using the vortech fmu with the vortech pump. What are the limits of that setup. (stock injectors, stock in tank pump, vortech fmu and vortech auxillary pump).
4. Last but not least, where did you guys get your T-bolt style clamps and couplers? Any specific seller on ebay or store? The only place that i know sell 2.5" Silicone couplers want $9.14 Each, and for the T-bolt clamps they want $5.15 each. I dont wanna cheap out, but again i also dont want to get ripped off.

Thanks a lot guys, and hopefully by the end of spring you can chalk up another turbo maxima on the board! If all goes well ill be the first turbocharged maxima in BC!

I would say get a tune as soon as possible also we would need more info. For one what size turbo is it? A t25 @ 6psi is going to move less air than a t88 @ 6psi so that makes a huge difference. Once we know that we can help you a lil more. I mean i am running 15psi thru the stockers with raised fp and a 255 intank.

1. It should 'run' and drive just fine. How is performs under boost may be a different story. But,the turbo and it's size play a role. What turbo and size do you have?

2. IMO, the MAF is not as much as a limiting reagent as the fuel injectors. It might be better to hold off on installing the Z32 Maf until you go with bigger injectors. And once you put in the properly sized and bigger injectors, you can remove the FMU. If you want to keep the FMU once you have bigger injectors, you'll have to drop the internal disc size down.

3. Well, as a SC guy, I put down 329hp with the setup you described. I was definitely pushing my luck as my FP was insane (85-95psi). Not quit sure what the limits are, but I believe the weakest link would be the stock injectors. Upgrade those, and the system as a whole will be find to handle whatever you throw at it.

4. intakehoses.com. This is where Ptatohed and I got our T-bolts, charge piping, and silicone couplers. Best prices we could find.

Thanks guys!

Well the turbo would be a Garrett T61 O trim. .70AR Compressor, and .68AR turbine. i dont plan on running too much boost on the FMU/Pump + stock injectors for long. As you guys can understand, id rather get the turbo up and running first, make sure everythings good beffore i pull off my intake manifold and start swapping injectors. By doing that i just aids in some of the initial downtime/headaches. I will be using a forward style y-pipe (Neal's old kit).

For those of you who have the MEVI too. What did you guys do for the activation point, did you leave it at the normal spot(5200) or did you tie it open?

Just run stock injectors, stock MAF, FMU, and fuel pump. With a 5lb spring you should be fine, and you probably will see a little less than 5lb anyhow. You really are going to want to get an AFR reading before going out and getting into much boost. You can just go to the dyno and tune with the SAFC and check your AFR's at the same time.

T-bolt clamps are not super cheap, but cheaper than the prices you listed. Napa actually carries them. You have to go up there and look in their catalog. I wish I would have saved the link to the place where I got mine. Good couplers are not cheap either.

Don't do it. Kills your low end power. I tested it on the dyno

Thanks Mike!

So i guess it will depend on the situation but when did you have your mevi open? Seeing as full boost will depend on which gear/load on the engine. Im not too sure what i would do in that situation lol.
