? on tapping upper oil pan.

well im almost done fixing my upper oil pan leak...and im planning on tapping the front middle of the upper oil pan for the return line for my oil cooler and the middle of the back part of the upper oil pan for the return line from the sump pump/turbo (i have rmt).

my question is....as long as my fitting does not interfere with the crank can i place my oil return lin anywere on the upper oil pan? or should the taps be located mor on the side were the lower oilpan is? im assuming the oil will drain down to the lower oil pan regardless were im putting the taps. this is my first time ever doing something like this so i want to make sure i do it perfectly. pics of ur taping location/technique could also help if possible.

as long as the tap doesn't interfere with the crank you'll be fine.

one thing i was considering was putting something to aim the oil flo downward away from the crank to prevent soaking it at high pressure....not too important but watever i can do to make it slightly more efficient shouldnt hurt....any thoughts on this?

I don't think the pressure is high enough to hurt it. Are you dropping the whole pan or just tapping it? I ask cause I tapped my front upper without dropping it.

Where was it leaking? Was it above the oil pressure sender? I had this problem, had it fixed and it still leaks.

it was leaking were the ac compressor bolts up to the upper oil pan. that was the only pkace.....

im tapping as close to the ac compressor on the front and basically on the same location on the other side of the pan facing the back of the car

Depending on the location, you can get away with tapping it by the AC compressor without dropping the upper pan, you can remove the lower and let the shavings fall as you tap.

Basically what jcy said, you could drop the lower and do it. I didn't drop mine tho. I used one of those "spiral titanium bits." I don't know what you call it, it starts out like 1/2" and steps up in increments to "3/4. When i used that, most of the shavings came away from the pan and it cut through that metal like butter too. I drained the oil, and got some cheap walmart oil. Ran it through to get any loose shavings i couldn't reach with my finger. Change your oil to synthetic and you're set. I did this last summer and still don't have the turbo on yet.
