Walbro fuel pump problem

Hey guys. I bought a supercharged 99 last fall and parked it till now. I recently read about the walbro fuel pump strainer causing the fuel to not be picked up at around 1/8 tank. The guy i bought the car off told be he had a walbro put in so i've been watching for this. Here is what i found:

I filled up the tank, hooked up my wideband, and went on a lil road trip. When i got to 1/8 tank i pulled off the highway to get some gas. As soon as i came to a stop on the exit ramp and proceeded to turn and accelerate.....car started sputtering. Anyway i filled it up and it took care of the sputtering. This car has larger injectors and EU so i kept an eye on the A/F ratio. I noticed that by 5,000 rpm i was in the 10:1 range and before i hit the limiter(or shifted)it would tag in the 9:1 range. Okay obviously rich. I'd like to see 11.5 or even slightly lower 11:1 range. Here is where i get to my point. After a while the car would not richen like it did earlier. I would (only sometimes) see a high 11:1 and instantly it would be in the mid twelves. I could not get it to go rich. i figured out that with the gas gauge 2 needle widths below half the pump wouldn't pull all the fuel it needed. It pulled enough to keep it from sputtering but LEAN. Also, when i got to 1/4 tank, i left a toll booth really hard more/less doing a 1/4 mile run and it sputtered. A little later cruising normally at 35mph and rolling in the throttle it sputtered, i got gas and it took 14.5 gallons. I figured i'd write this as an fyi for guys with this pump and no wideband. At first i thought something was inconsistent, but i'm now convinced it's that strainer.

easy to fix, just use some poxy on the bottom of the pic-up and customize it by cutting the hole bottom off and it wont let the filter get crushed and loose suction and it wont make it that when ur tank is low the car sputters like you said, if done properly it will drink every drop!

So shouldn't the title of this thread have been "Walbro fuel pump solution"??
