Front Mount fitment question

Hey I was thinking about turbo'ing my car and was wondering about how much custom work I would have to do for it and I have a front mount question. I would love to have a 12" tall by like 20" wide intercooler but I believe that would be to big to fit in properly. So I would settle for a 9"tall one if i had to, but my question is how does it fit in the car. I have a 96 maxima with the stock front bumper would I be able to fit that in and just cut the middle out so its open to the air and looks good or would I have to do the 97-99 conversion? Also if I cut it out what would I have to do to blend it in again? some sort of fiberglass work from an autobody? Also if i were to do the 97-99 conversion how much money would I be spending on the bumper itself and the installation is that expensive and what does it consist of. I hope i was clear but im really not to familiar with this kinda stuff So i just figured you guys could tell me what you did and how much work each would involve... PICS WOULD HELP!!!
