My RMT idea and plans

Ok, so a friend of mine recently became a dealer for STS and can get me some pretty good prices on their kits. I am going to buy the stage 2 kit from them. We are going to make the charge piping at his shop and I know a really good exhaust shop that is going to make my custom b-pipe. I don't really know what size turbo to get because there are so many different ones to choose from with the kit...also it comes with a 38mm wastegate is this too small The only other stuff I am buying is probably some Duestchworks 550cc injectors, BOV of some sort, probably some type of turbo timer, a manual boost controller, a boost gauge, and a A/F meter. I'm going to use my SAFC-2 for the tune on it. I'm only looking to run 6-7 PSI with it. Here is my plan (I know, I know, it's just like Maxboost's was ) I basically just took Maxboost925's setup from start to finish and already cut out the parts that were eventually changed on his, I also added a FMIC which will probably be identical to the one that was on Hnda Etr's car:

Here is what all the stage 2 kit comes with:

Turbo (application specific)
Wastegate, 38mm
Wastegate Pipe
Wiring Harness
Air Filter
Dry-charger
Hose Kit
Silicone Kit
Clamp Kit
Turbo Flange Kit
Bolt Kit
Brass Kit
Oil Pump
Oil Check Valve
Instruction Manual

Please help me out guys if you have any suggestions or ideas for me. Also if you guys knew which Turbo/BOV/Wastegate/etc. etc. please let me know. Thanks in advance.

-Justin

Rear mount turbos have and do work fine. The performance differences between it and a "proper" setup aren't great enough to remove it as an option.

Wow dude where have you been? Rmts are a damn good idea and work. The 38mm is perfect and no where too small.

I really don't know yet...I want something pretty big but not humongous , I was thinking of I guess like somewhere around a high 50's to 60 trim. STS is supposed to select the perfect size based off of what you tell them but I don't know if that would work out so I'm not really too sure yet. Also do you guys know of a really good BOV I could buy?

Well as for the turbo I believe I will be going with the T3/T4 60 trim, I'm not sure of everything about it but my friend talked to a guy that works for them and he said it would be perfect and it's the same one they use for the 350z kit. Also I looked and Deatschwerks doesn't have 550cc injectors for my motor so I was looking at the 440cc ones, will these be fine with my setup?

To be honest with you 370 would be ok. 440's are plenty if you plant to stay lower boost and not make a ton of power. But if you think you may want to upgrade later do it once and do it right. They have 600cc's which imho is over kill but you can always turn down your fp.

Well I'm looking to run 6-7 lbs. of boost and I'm hoping for at least 325 whp. I have another question though, on STS's website it says that with their kit I will not need an intercooler or a turbo timer ....is this BS or could I really run that kit without those parts? I would like to buy a FMIC no matter what because of cooling issues but if I don't really need a turbo timer then I'm not going to buy one. What do you guys think?

Im not running a timer. If you good synthetic oil and dont run the car like hell and get out you will be fine. As far as IC i always suggest and ic no matter what. Unless you are runnign 3psi or less than there would be no need.

If you do plan to run a ic i would put my wastegate reference after the ic not before. That way your motor is seeing what you want it to see not what the turbo is making. You will lose 1-2 psi thru the ic so you if you reference right out of the turbo you will see 1-2 less to the motor.

why not just go full t4 and leave yourself a good head room to grow into more power.

but a turbo timer is a few bucks and since you turn wont be water cooled also i would think about it as just extra insurance.

tell your friend to fab up extra kits(all the correct piping and such). if he could or sts could sell a bolt on turbo setup with 0 modification many would buy it...

including me.

A full t4 is not needed. Before he went that route he could go with a 60-1 . Still t3 and can get a smaller turbine. Most t4's have a large turbine and in a remote setup you dont want anything else thats going to create more lag

Def use an IC, no question about it.

Turbo timer isnt something you NEED. Like Kzoosho said, just dont drive the car like an a$s and then turn the engine off right away. I keep the rpms under 2k and barely use the throttle for the last few blocks before I get home, I park, turn the engine off and let the oil pump run for about a minute while I take my sweet time to get my keys and other junk, put away headunit face plate, hide the AFC, etc..., then I get out.

If you have any questions you're more than welcomed to PM me. I'd be glad to assist.
