Curious as to what size water cooling fittings you guys are using? Also where do you guys tap the coolant system for your turbo?

Ok let me clarify, what are the size (ie 16mm, 1/2", etc?) are the coolant threads in your turbo? Further more, Im wondering what type of gasket you used for your turbo coolant fittings? In the past Ive copper and aluminum washers for my banjo bolt fittings, but Ive decided to ditch them for an 18mm to -8AN fitting which came with a rubber o-ring. Do you guys think the O-ring will hold up to the heat of the turbo and if so, would it be any better than the copper or aluminum washers?

Not sure on most of this stuff, My reply was to the question about where to tap for coolant.

On my 240 i just re-used oem banjofittings from my old t25 and old t28. Not sure about the o-ring either, allot of the SS turbo line kits i have looked at didn't have o rings. Mebey someone else will chime in.

What turbo do you have?

What type of washers (copper or aluminum) did you use on your banjo fittings? Ive heard that copper (in the case of a head gasket) will leak coolant but I never had a problem with my washers on the turbo. I guess I will ditch the o-ring and stick with the aluminum washers.

I have also heard of people using the TB coolant lines, but since they are less than 9mm and the coolant fittings on my turbo are 18mm, I tapped into the lines that go to the heater core.

My turbo is a large shaft T3 with stage 2 wheels and .82 exhaust housing. (only 440hp capable)

i'm running AN6 lines. it's getting the feed from the coolant lines after the TB. you don't want to use the turbo to heat up the TB.
the fittings on the turbo depends on size of fitting and what hose size. i think on mine is a pipe thread so some teflon sealant was ok for it.

you can use either copper or alum washers.

I have AN8 for coolant lines. I didn't tap myself and haven't messed with where it is plumbed into yet to know where.

I used an old fuel pump and windshield washer tank to pump water through the turbo on my 280ZXT. Took some time to get the lines to work right.

??? This sounds like a good solution, except for the fuel pump with water.......
There is no way you can get a fuel pump to move water; I fried 4 fuel pumps trying to get them to move water. Finally a buddy explained that the putting a fuel pump in water would instantly kill it. I dont remember exactly why, but water + fuel pump = instant dead fuel pump.

get an electric coolant pump from an early mercedes. its a pump that pumps it to the heater core.

in my case i did use the coolant lone that goes to the TB but right after the turbos im using a small cooler to lower the temps which is placed right in front of the radiator.
