New and Bigger intercooler (pics inside)

So I ditched the small 28 x 5.5 x 2.25 intercooler and put a 28 x 9 x 2.75.
I wanted to keep the bumper support and fog lights, so I cut the bumper support in half (just the center part), intercooler fits in perfectly. The inlets are 2.5" the old one is only 2". My charge piping is 2" from turbo to intercooler, then transitions to 2.5 into IC, then exits as 2.5 goes in through the rad support and turns up into a 3" pipe, then 3" the rest of the way to intake manifold. I am hoping to get a good increase in performance, more cooling more flow, etc... , now time for 15-20psi!!!!!!

OLD

NEW IC

I am thinking of cutting up the bumper to expose the entire IC but I dont really like how it looks, looks to exaggerated (ricey), what yall think? :

lookin good man!

I really can't decide between cut or uncut. The cut doesn't look BAD, but it doesn't really look good either

If you really need better cooling...I vote some sort of I/C sprayer before cutting the bumper.

IMO the whole intercooler doesn't need to be exposed. The majority of it already is. I would say cut the 12" license plate holder thing and you should be good, only the 2 inch bar will be blocking pretty much. Air can get around that. Plus you are already spraying.

Size is cool, but honestly i dont like seeing the intercooler piping or the endtanks of the intercooler, i think just the bars and plates of the intercooler should be shown. But because of your size it couldnt be that way.. but yours is cool bro...

Thanks guys, well for now I am going to leave it as is, i looked carefully and theres a whole lot of space behind the bumper cover, so i dont see any problem with air flow getting in there. Like suggested above, i cut the license plate holder and that should make a good difference.

Buttdyno results:
HOLY ****! lol, the car is just insane right now. Boost went up (which means i got rid of that crazy pressure loss I had), fixed a few bends as well.

1st gear: is now useless. Normally before i would floor it from a stop, then as boost came in it would start loosing grip but catch and loose grip again, also it would go to about 7-8psi on a good day. NOW, I get 10PSI in first, thats with no brake boosting just easy off the line, and also completely spins out.

2nd gear: If i am in first and floor it it spins, then shifts, catches grip during the shift and starts spinning 2nd, it dosnt catch grip till about 60mph almost right before it shifts into 3rd. If roll in 2nd gear, boost comes in hard and sooner than before, dosnt spin out but u can feel tires getting loose (i still have a restrictive muffler so boost dosnt go as high as if I were to shift from 1st, when i go from 1st into 2nd boost is higher since the turbo is already spooled up)

Haven't had the chance to get into 3rd, too much traffic, ill wait for the track this coming Friday.

btw boost is now at 14psi or so in 2nd, before it was at 10psi. I also have to re-tune my a/f since its a little leaner, got into the 12's which is fine, didnt pick up any knock on my J&S, but im still lowering it to 11's.

the intercooler looks, good, ideally i agree on just seeing bars/fins, but that maybe be bias to how i had it.. gladd that youre getting more boost quicker now, tune it to high 11's, i found my old dynos, Frank put it clean and smoot at about 12.1-12.2. ... take the car to moroso...... you got the tires, do it already damit... looks good.

I havent tuned again, the tune dosnt look bad, hasnt changed all that much, just a little leaner. specially tonight that its colder out.

Man the car surprised the crap out of me, was just cruising with a passanger, not even racing or anything. Went to give it a quick 2nd gear pull, all of a sudden when boost came in, tires just completely spun (it went into burn out mode lol), this is rolling at about 50mph. Tried it again after, just to verify lol, make sure it wasnt the road that was slippery or anything, and same result. After that, went on the highway, this time I was ofcourse alone. Man it pulls so hard, just matter of few seconds I let off look down and speedo was reading 120.

Now that its going to start getting colder im hitting up moroso for sure. For now, this friday I am going to countyline again with slicks, and no muffler, so should be putting down even more power than it is right now.
