Stillen Max's Scd: Upgraded Front mount

So my buddy wanted an intercooler for his supercharged maxima. This 305 Mia orger now up in the north decided to give a friend a hand .... here it is...
Hoping he will go meth , pullie, and send ECU back to JW to add more timing next so we can get all out of the setup..

Before..

Greddy intercooler of his choice... good one

The man wanted the blow off valve to be alittle more noticeable...

Finito! someone is intercooled

Got a pic of the intercooler done with the bumper cover still off? Did you loose the actual metal bumper? My buddy has a intercooler for his eclipse and I was thinking about buying it so this helps.

yes , if you go tall enough on the intercooler you will loose the metal bumper support. if you go upto 9 inches tall, you can get away with triming it. this one was 12 inches or so

Good looking setup, just an FYI,
I had my BOV mounted very similiar to the way you have yours. To me it looked pretty cool to see it peeking out from the fog light opening.

After I thought about it for a bit though, I began to wonder if cruising at hwy speeds would effect the boost being vented. The more I thought about it I wondered if air would try rush in at the same time as boost is trying to be released when the car is moving forward at a decent amount of speeds.
Cant say I noticed anything to determine if this was occurring or not, but for peace of mind I just decided to turn it around.

Thanks man...I actually thought this - "What if a rock goes inside the BOV while im in the highway" However lets hope that doesnt happen.

Oh and you know what! I wonder if this happended to you too but I noticed my BOV sounds different from when I just had the straight pipe running accross the engine. Did this happen to you?

To give u a better idea..my BOV sounded like a woooshhh and now it sounds like a Greddy turbo BOV. Air flows thru it normal like it used to. Just the sound is different... Sounds sick to be honestWoo hooooo LOL

Im using a different BOV with the intercooler, but when I was running the charge pipe in the engine bay you could here a good roar as the boosted air passed through it.Have you always ran the Vortech Race BOV?

Ah, I ran the Blitz BOV when I had the Stillen chrage pipe. I later ran a Tial and now the Mondo when I went with the 3" piping and intercooler setup. The Blitz didnt have much sound to it all except the wooshing you mentioned before. The Tial sounded the best, but wasnt adjustable so I went with the Mondo.
BTW... you have the Vortech Maxflow Race BOV, this is a Vortech Mondo BOV

It will sound a little different since the change of location. No intercooler and shorter piping is a factor now it is after the intercooler with slighter longer piping (further away from the boost source). BTW you could put some wire mesh over the bov if you are worried about rocks getting in it.

See... I learned something new and thanks for correcting me.

So assuming you have the Vortech Mondo...how does that sound? Nice?

No assuming, the Vortech is the BOV that I have.

It sounds ok, nothing great. Under low boost or venting at idle it has the loud wooshing noise. It sounds much different under full boost. Under full boost it has more of a high pitched fluteering tone. Its hard to describe it exactly but sounds like most of the traditional BOVs that arent the whistle type.

i doubt the air pressures will be an issue on the bov not venting, the screen is a good idea to go with Albert.

I didn't install it. I can't weld! lol

Not sure why they decided to do that. Doesn't matter though - works a treat.

I live in the tropics. Most days here in summer are up around 100, so the IC was a need imho

How much boost did you lose through the setup? I ended up putting the 2.62" pulley on the keep it roughly the same as it was pre intercooler

Albert will have to chime in, but from what we saw pushing it around town , he didnt loose any boost, but I cant be for certain. I know we got 10 psi with the intercooler, not sure what he was running without it.

I would have welded the elbow too if i had the equipment, makes that turn tighter and easier.

Alvaro and I took the car for a spin and saw close to my 11lbs. I was too busy paying attention to the rd and not the gauge. But when I peaked I saw 10lbs and still going..

Looks good Albert. I want to do the same thing with mine. Did you buy the piping as a kit? If so what did you get? How many silicone coupers did you use? Did you cannibalize your original cross over piping in order to have a short section that already had the mount for your blow off valve or did you buy a peice of pipe that was already fitted with the right mount?

The piping was a kit, yet. The Greddy intercooler I got separate. I got a 3 inch pipe kit. I think I used like 12-15 silicone couplers. I had to cut some frame to fit the big a$$ pipes.. which was a pain in the butt, so nothing was bought fitted.

haha, you likes it huh but foreal, its catchy, only you have to be ready to get tried and back it up, its def an attention grabber

we used about 8-10 couplers, and half of an universal 3 inch kit. what was spared was most of the straigh and 45* bends

yes, the original pipe with the BOV flalnge was cut, big deal, its a piece of straight pipe not even aluminum, its steel.
