Did you use the DR mod or anything along those lines with those automatics? I thought auto's were useless 'till I saw members like Jime. 10s 1/4mile on a stock automatic... Disclaimer: 5spd wins hands down for fun.

wow, 4 blown auto's. No offense man but that sounds like user error. I have been abusing the **** out of my auto since iv had the car, so about 5 years or more. N/A, Nitrous, then turbo, then turbo+nitrous, now built bigger motor+turbo. and its still alive! NOW is when its starting to let me know its hurting a little bit, but once its warm its a champ.

All its always had, mobil 1, cooler, and dr, and ofcourse properly driving it, minimal WOT downshifts, slight off gas between part throttle cruising shifts, etc. Iv been letting off the gas between shifts at full boost only this last few weeks, cuz its feeling the most power its ever felt, and shifts are starting to get slower.

Unless you'v been making 400hp through all them 4 autos

I wish I was making 400hp through them. Hell, i woulda been happy with 200whp. On my first max I babied the hell outa the car. Then I had the auto replaced with a rebuilt one. Babied that and it went too. I paid for a brand new one from nissan and that started slipping too before I wrecked the car.

On my i30 I wasnt as easy on it at all. lol WOT everywhere. 00VI feels good close to red line. After a while it just started locking itself outa random gears. Right before I swapped it, it was stuck in 3rd gear. I didnt wanna deal with anymore. So it was either;

A. Buy another auto ($1200 from nissan) that will probably go out again from personal experience.

B. Use all the random 5 speed stuff I have lying around and do the swap. It cost me less than $300 to do my swap including buying a clutch and flywheel, all fluids, micelaneous nuts and bolts, etc.

By the way, all maintinence was on schedule too. My father works at nissan so that takes care of that. My uncle's daily driven max is starting to slip too at only 86k on the original auto. He babies it. It looks like you have to be making big power like you and Jime to keep an auto happy. lol

This might be a dumb question but the 2 handed crazy steering, is that simply torque steer or would wider tires up front help more, or even perhaps less fluid in the power steering/manual rack? Looks like quite a handful....Re autos, I've had manuals since my first 80hp '85 Mazda 626 but for me, nothing beats the feel of a tight auto kicking down a gear or two

Well its a combination of torque steer and both tires spinning out. Even on the slicks I still have to turn the wheel alot due to the torque steer, it wants to go left.
