Shot of my set-up. Rwd vq35 manifolds that have been modified with 3" downpipe in the stock location of the y-pipe. Didn't loose any ground clearance either with this. Feed pipes are nice and short and external tial wastegate before the turbo.

I made the kit. But it requires aftermarket fans because of the Rwd vq35 manifold. They have been flipped and the flanges cut off. Up-pipes have been coated and wrapped to keep the heat down. On 7 psi, it put down 353 on a dyno dynamics aka heartbraker.

No recent updates though. Just been driving it and enjoying it.

looks like it is going to be a pretty serious setup.

open downpipe gets old, fast, especially on sh!tty sounding motors like the vq.

in my opinion, even with the best, smoothest sounding exhaust possible, the VQ sounds mediocre at best. most of the time it sounds like pure ***, even worse when not muffled at all. just about the only thing worse is an old GM V6 lol. that's why i try to keep my exhaust as quiet as possible. all i want to hear is the turbo spooling.

......Dont know about that, the 3.0 yea i can see why they dont sound that good without an equal length header setup, but the 3.5? If you say that then tell me VW's VR6 is a good sounding motor than you need to reassess what you just said.

3.5's do sound pretty dope. 3.0's are average at best, but with equal length set ups i like them.

From my own experience theres almost no difference in sound between the 30 and 35, and an equal length 35 still sound like crap. Solution: 24-26" resonator, dump tube going into the down pipe, and good quality muffler. the turbo's whistle will make up for the **** VQ sound lol.

ive been talking to t6378tp, ive made up my mind on the manifold setup........
this

with both banks merging together in front of the motor mount, instead of two pipe all the way to the turbo.......

i really want the turbo to face the front of the car.....well see

SimpleNclean I forgot to tell you that on a auto the downpipe can be ran over the tran and down the firewall. With this setup you will not lose any ground clearance and the turbo can face forward

the VR6 and VQ don't sound one bit alike, and they shouldn't, since one has the firing order of an inline 6 and one has a V6 firing order.

Then you haven't heard a VR6. The VQ35 and the VR6 sound VERY similar. Not the 3.0, the 3.5. Go listen to them back to back, the VR6 has a deeper tone than the 3.5 but if you hear them next to each other their is barely a difference. In theory they shouldn't but in reality they do:

Tell me how different those 2 sound other than 1 is louder than the other? Stock for stock its the same story.
