sc or na

i got a 3.5 swap but it has hr cams/ hr pistons/hr springs double-shimmed and hi rev oil pump.. so its not a stock 3.5, also has ARP bolts and studs all around. what can I boost safely as far as psi because i think the compression is a little more than stock 3.5?

psi is really relative. are you pretty set on a supercharger? and whats your actual compression ratio? a lot of people seem to run 7 or so with a supercharger on stock motors. so thats honestly a hard question to answer.

Stock DE rods plus high compression with boost is not a good idea. I wouldn't added boost to your motor just stay NA. If you do want to boost the HR pistons would have to go, and while your in there you might as well toss in some eagle rods then boost. Those are my first thoughts.

Your motor definitely would not be turbo friendly you might be able to get away with a supercharger but i wouldn't push it. your compression currently should be in the 11.x:1 range a boarder line 300whp NA motor, if healthy and given proper tuning.

So in all honesty i would just enjoy your car as is, you have a nice setup. Work on other things, suspension, brakes, aesthetics. Boost is headaches. i can understand wanting it, its fun but i would suggest getting a second car if you want to boost, there will be some downtime involved. Almost every one i know on here with a boosted car has a second car/DD including myself. But if your buying a second car move to a better platform and keep the maxima as a DD that is the best solution.

On a Supercharger its understandable to talk PSI, 4th/5th gens only run 2 blowers, the Vortech V1 and V2 and they are very similar and size and output.

I have 3 kits..

When I offered to sell one, nobody put up any serious $$$, and I'm not about to sell mine for under $2K.. demand and supply..

Maxima people = cheap, completely unreliable, and make me say "SHOW ME THE MONEY" first before anything happens. No need to get defensive, just stating facts for the record.

This is the most important comment on the forum. Never boost to early, sort your life out first, save ya money and build a street drag machine when you have a garage/savings etc.

NA VQ35 will still go hard and will save you an insane amount of time and money in the long run
