AMMMAZZZING New tires.....

I was thinking about going with evo 5's and 18 inch tires but decided I really didnt have the money so I just got new 16" tires instead. I went with the goodyear eagle F1's from the tirerack. They are summer tires in 225/50/16 ZR rated. They were on sale for some closeout thing. Let me tell you these tires are amazing. First of all they stick like crazy, I can take turns much faster than before. They also look amazing. The speedometer is off just 2-3 miles/hr, but I dont really mind. I would reccomend everyone to get these tires, they are great. And shipping was only $33 2 day delivery.

Are these "Goodyear Eagle F1s?" Those are rated very poorly on Tire Rack. There are "Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3s" that are rated very highly. Just curious about the exact model you have.

I don't see any close out on these but there is a rebate , did I miss the close out? They look pretty nice and the reviews even say the ride is good. Was there any noticable change in the ride with these? You're on the stock suspension, right?

Is there a reason you went a size smaller instead of a size bigger (225/55-16)? If I get these I will probably go with the 225/55, a little more sidewall should improve the ride and the extra 1/4 inch of ground clearance will not hurt either.

EDIT - I assume you have the highly rated GS-D3s.

Yes my tires are the GS-D3. They have over a 9 rating on both dry and wet traction. When I bought them they didnt have that promotional thing, it was just a little cheaper. I dont know what happened. The reason I bought the wider size was because I have heard many things about traction improving, and now I can confirm that (at least over my continentals which I am saving for winter). I didnt really care about the sidewall either way, its only 1/4 inch so it's not going to make a huge difference, there was just more of a selection in 225/50. Good luck guys.

I think that 225/50 is the best to go with. I looked at 225/55 shiet looks huge, and bulges like a **** on the stock 16" wheel. Glad that your are enjoying your new tires.

Wouldn't the bulge be the same with the 225 width no matter what the sidewall height is?

I got Bridgestone Potenza 950's, a great tire IMO. I went with stock size of 215/55/16.

Jr'sMaxima, what tire pressure(s) does the tire pressure sticker suggest for your SE with those stock tire's? What pressure(s) are you actually using?

Also running 950s on 97 I30. Outstanding wet and dry tire, never had a better tire!
