Dumb Tire ?...Can I mix sizes?

I have Sumitomo HTR+ tires in 225/50/16 w/ about 30K on them. 1 of the pairs needs to be replaced some time soon. I want to switch to a 215/55/16 size. Do I have to do all 4 @ once, or could I go 10-12K and then buy the other 2?

I know that the answer should be buy all 4 @ once, but I don't really have the $ to do 4 new tires now...

You can do that but it would be best to wait for all 4.

You can do that with out a problem as long as both the tires on that
axle are the same size. (225/50 on the front 215/55 on the back).
