mounting 235-45-17 on 17x7 rims????

i have both already. ive been told itll fit.

will performance be hurt by not having a 8" rim. will it look funny? i am getting the tires on later today so i am kinda too far in just wondering what y'all think?

Check out tirerack in the "specs" of your specific tire brand and model and make sure it's recommended for that size rim to be 100% sure:

Otherwise, it'll just look bubbled out like how the stock tires stick out past the rim, but on the plus size, you won't have to worry about curb rash. But wheels do look more visually appealing when the tire sits flush with the rim.
