It was time to replace my potenza's, after 40,000 white-knuckled miles, so I decided to shop around quite a bit. I'm not huge into performance tires, have never been to the track (probably never will go), so I'm looking for something-anything- better than the potenza's.

So here's my review of the MasterCraft Avenger LSR in 225-50-17. These tires are V-rated and listed at 50,000 miles. They are made by cooper.

The Pros: About 500 miles so far, and much much better ride than the potenza's. Grip is better and the first 180 miles I put on them were in a torential downpour on the interstate. NO hydroplaning or slipping that I was used to with potenza's.

So far: I'm completely happy.

Price: $112 a tire, mounted, balanced, installed.

The Cons: The sidewall has a "ribbed look". It looks OK, just a little different look than I'm used to. I'll get some pics soon.
