brand wise i have read great reviews on continental ExtremeConturing I have the earlier verisons not the extreme one's and even those handle awsome in the rain. The Exterme's are suppoes to be 3 times better.

i have the conti extreme contouring on my 17" i30 wheels. They really are pretty good. I have driven about 300 miles thus far and they do handle quite nicely and are relatively quiet. I recommend them.
