well, upon advice from the ORG, i went out and bought a can of Fix-A-Flat.

Basically, one of my rear pirelli's are leaking air... it's to the point where i gotta fill it every 2-3 days. It doesn't get totally flat, but it gets down to about 10-15psi.

Should I completely deflate my tire and unload the entire can? Or can i unload the can half way or something. I understand that it inflates the tire too so I don't want to make it explode or something when I drive. (it says it increases pressure when I first drive it after filling the tire w/ it).

I need to survive on this tire for another month before replacing all 4 tires. If this doesn't work, then I will probably get just the 2 rear ones replaced, and get the fronts replaced next months. Man, what a hassle. Thanks

i don't know how well that stuff works day to day. for emergencies it's better than having a big flat..which helps...but i believe once you're safely off the rd you need to get the tire repaired.

any way you can find out where the leak is coming from?
spray some soapy water around the tire and look for the fizzing/foam.

Most tire places will put a PATCH on the inner portion of the tire for FREE. 100x better than some cheap spray tire flat fix goop.

since the tires have reached to the "point of replacement," tire companies will not touch my tires because it is a liability. I want to replace all my tires at once, so I need a month. If this doesn't work, i'll replace by pairs.

dan- i tried that... didnt work

i was gonna take the wheel off and put it in a huge tub w/ water to look for air bubbles... if this doesn't work, either way i'm screwed because i can't fix the sidewall.

hmmm you have to be losing air somewhere.

try spraying down the entire rim/wheel with the wheel off the car. maybe leaky valve or maybe crack in rim. better u know now than later ya know.

worse case you'll get a really clean wheel/tire.

no luck

i unloaded the can of fix-a-flat in the tire... we'll see by tomorrow morning if this works or not. IT BETTER WORK because i think my freakin tire is unbalanced in the back and it causes a pulsating vibration on the freeway. It hella sucks cuz 95% of my driving is freeway.

I think i'm just going to get the last 2 tires replaced now, and get the other 2 next month.

well it looks like you shot yourself in the foot..LOL

the sealer might've fixed your leak so it doesn't look like there is a leak there now.

maybe pony up for used tires for a few weeks?

Fix a flat is only an emergency, temporary fix until you can get the leak patched. The FAF liquid is impossible to evenly coat the tire leading to a severely unbalanced tire.

well... tire is not unbalanced. apparently the reasn why my stearing wheel was vibrating was because the latch that secures the steering wheel after adjusting it wasn't.. um latched? i forgot to set it back after detailing the car the night before.

anyways, the fix-a-flat DID work... it's been 3 days and the pressure is holding. Time to look for new tires! What I did was I unloaded the can... then I immediately drove to work (30 miles away). I think that is about as even as it's goin to get.

thanks alot guys.
