long time reader, second time poster [IMG] [/IMG]

I am getting ready to buy some new tires I currently am running 205/60 R16 and am thinking about either 215/55's or 225/50's there is not much of a price difference. Any suggestions

Those will be the same diameter as the 205/60's....if you were thinking that they were smaller.

increasing the first # will not only give you a wider tire it will also increase the diameter. That is why lowering the second #, which is the profile, will off set the increase in diameter of the larger first #.

205/60 = 215/55 = 225/50...... they are all abou the same diameter.

You would have to go to a 215/50 or 225/45, which will only slightly change the gearing and look kinda odd with out a decent drop.

Your thread title is a little deceiving. I though you were talking about gear ratios.

I'm in a good mood and feel like sharing my personal list.

I've run everything from the 225/55/16 that gave me a top 2nd gear speed of like 72mph to this summer's 215/45/16 that topped out at 66mph (stock rev limit). All street tires - no slick sizes sorry.
