Maxima 2x4!!!

Last year I put Brigestone RE950i's on the 2k 5 spd and the dry and wet traction was incredible over the stockers. But the snow traction went right out the door. In a quick fix effort I researched and found Sure grip-Z chains and bought a set. These are not like old chains they are cables that fit tightly to your size tires and go across the tread in a Z formation. So chain is always hitting ground. They can go on once you figure it out in about 5 min a side. Just can't go over 30 mph on them. But in real snow, Holy S--t!!!
True story: I was going to work up this real steep unplowed back road. A Maxima (coincidently) pulled out of a driveway and just sat there spinning. I was at a dead stop w/ a plow behind me. Waited a minute and just went around him like I was on the dry, he just looked at me in the same car and the plow followed me. This was in about 8-10" on a 30-40 degree incline.
This year I bought steelies with BFGoodrich winter Slaloms to swap off. I go 90% better in the snow now and in the snow last weekend threw on the chains in the deep stuff and took them off when roads were clear. I can't get stuck when I try. And I've tried!!!

I just did a google search on them. Ended up ordering them from Vulcantire.com. Under Google groups there are a lot of talk about them with Subarus and even 300zx's in Vermont and the such. I remember reading a guy with a Z who couldn't get out of his driveway in an inch of snow, used these to go skiing and got up an icy mountain road that SUV's were sliding off. You don't have to roll the car over them or anything, they hing apart in 2 places and just hook arond the tire. Then you attach a bungee like ring w/ hooks in the center to cinch it up tight.

When you go into the site, it tells you to put in tire size and gives you a few that fit. The cheepo ones in my oppinion aren't worth it accept to keep in the trunk for emergency. The Shur Grip Z for around 60 bucks is what I got. There is a newer Hi performance one I see that wasn't there last year and I dont know anything about it. But it costs around $140. Probably can drive faster on them???

sorry forgot to mention, you only use two on the fronts. Even on 4wd they only recommend 2 up front. It is a bit like snow tires only on the front though you can get the tail around if your not carefull. I got it squirmy once and just giving it a bit of gas straightens it out.
