Stock Tire Selection

I have stock wheels.
I slide all over the place.

Don't have enough money for rims, but I think I will need new tires soon.
What would be the best tires (performance) for stock wheels?
Or is that impossible.

I'm assuming your stock tire size is 215/55/16

Your best bet would be the Bridgestone Turanza LS-Z. Good reviewed all season tire.

If you are looking to economize, Dunlop GT Qualifier is worth a look. They are T rated, however, and if you want a really high speed tire, they are not it.

I got 215/50/17 Continental Extreme Contacts All Seasons at only $91 each through Tire Rack. At 44 psi, they handle better than the Maxima can push them. 5 ply tread area and W rated (that's above Z) with outstanding wet and snow characteristics too...a rarity. You should check out Tire Rack's survey results in all the performance categories. With some study, you can get excellent tires near the best in their category for reasonable cost. Good Luck.
