Tires-- where do you buy from.

I am in the market to buy new tires. I am a school teacher and can't afford to get the most expensive ones, but I would like some decent ones. What kind and where should I try to get from. I was looking at tirerack.com, but I am not sure that it makes much difference than getting them from my local Discount Tire. I am keeping stock rims, and just wondered where everyone else is getting their rubber from.

Get Sumitomo HTR+ for $76 each tire or Continental ContiExtremeContacts for $91 each tire. They're both Ultra High Performance All-Season tires and come in 215/50/17 which is just a tad smaller than OEM size. Good luck.

Tirerack is great, discount tire is good.

I buy my tires for my 17" wheels from www.treaddepot.com because they are the best price I have found on my favorite brand which is Toyo.

any input on falken ze-512 vs. sumitomo htr+, 235/45/17? i'm in the market for a new set. too bad tirerack doesn't carry falken. discounttire charges too much for shipping.

does anyone know if discount tire co/american tire co will price match the price on discounttire.com?

limsandy, he is 4th gen, dude. they are 16" wheels, unlike 5th gen that are 17".

I would go with Falken Ziex over Khumo or those others. I have just personally seen them hold up more. My brother has been running nothing but Falkens ever since he tried them a few years ago. He had just about everything else before that.

If there is an NTB (National Tire and Battery) near you, bring an internet print-out of the tire you want and they'll match the lowest price you can find. GREAT DEAL. I just did it this morning. Ordered a set of Falkons 512 for $89/piece (235/45/17). NTB was originally charging $123/each, but accepted my $89 price. Then, for $40/tire, you get installation, balancing, road hazzard warranty, and free life-time rotations and balancing.
