Nittos, Toyos -> Stock 17" wheels

What I have is a set of the stock 5th gen 17x7 6-spoke wheels with no rubber on them. Stock size is 225/50, which would be great if the tires I would like to get were made in them....

What I was reading on the board is some have done 245/45, 235/45, or other combos on the 7" wheel. Minimum size the manufacturers suggest is 7.5", ugh..

What I was looking at were the Nitto NT450, NT555, Toyo Proxes T1-S, or Proxes 4. They all come in the larger 235 or 245 sizes.

I will only be using these in the summer, so snow is no issue and potholes should of subsided some. If I can get a tire dealer to put them on, do it, or is that pushing the sidewalls too much?

Any help would be great!
Thanks -Mike-

I would personally go w/ Nittos. They are awesome summer tires.

In my opinion, the NT450's had a very short value-added life, although I got 37k of functional life out of them, and had tread left (the guy at NTB laughed at me as asked if I was really serious about getting new tires). For the first few weeks, they were fine, but performance dropped quickly. handling in the rain was awful and I would slide a lot. In moderate to heavy rains, I had to slow down unnecessarily early because I would slide very easily. Can't tell you how many times I'd slow down to much more conservative speeds in the rain (~45-50mph), only to still slide out of my lane. Slid out of my lane even riding main streets in very moderate rain. Bottom line: I felt unsafe on the NT450's in the rain. On dry pavement, they were just decent. Compared to the HTR+ I have now, it's a night and day difference.

I had both tires. I used 450s for summer and 555s for all season.

I mean I liked them both but I used the 555s mostly because summer is short here. Never had to worry about hydroplaining or anything. I've put good 40k miles on both models and they still had tread left. If I had to choose one between the two models, I would pick the 555s.
