I found a good deal on a full-size spare (brand new) for $20 for a goodyear tire in the right size, but it is directional. That is NOT a good idea, right?

You would probably want tire than is not directional, basically you'd have a 1/2 chance that its going to be facing the correct way when you get a flat. If its not facing the right way, its probably not a big deal though, especially since you'll only be driving on it for a relativly short period of time.

I don't think that a directional tire would have any real disadvantage going the wrong direction, as long as the pavement is dry. If the roads are wet, then the water would be directed toward the middle of the tire, which would probably cause hydroplaning.
So you just have to hope that you get a flat when it's dry outside. Of course, when it rains, it pours. You'll probably get a flat when it's raining hard with 30mph winds in the dark or something.

For $20 for a brand new 16" tire that IS directional, should I go ahead and buy it? I don't know that I can find a 15" that cheap brand new...

Yeah I would get it personally. Then IF you get stuck in the rain with it facing the wrong way, just drive slower.

$20 for a Goodyear tire is good price. Little worried about directional though. It could be raining or dry when you get a flat. It could be left or right side of car w/ a flat. Your call. I would probably get it if I were you.

I would get it. If your smart, you wont drive on it for long anyways. And when you get home you can just change it to the proper side if need be. I would love to get a full-size spare since i cant ride on a regular spare. Hopefully i wont get a flat or i will need to be towed home...

Hell, if you dont want it, let me get it!

I just got a 2000 17' rim on ebay for $75 shipped. Once you get a rim, drive around town to local tire places - usually they will keep decent used tires for sale. I found a 225-55-17 (size that I run) Michelin MXV4 with 50% thread left at a local Goodyear dealer for 30 bucks mounted. full size spare is really nice on long trips. If you go with a oem 17' rim, it will buble out a bit in the trunk, but oh well, who cares.

Full size rim / tire.

I have a tire, but I'm looking for a rim. so I'm in a dilemma of figuring out what rims will fit. I'm looking at the Lexus is300 rims... offset +50 anyone think it'll work for a 5th gen? Anyone selling a 17" wheel cheap?

here's two auctions that has all 4 350z wheels (front) the same size too bad they are closed already

But the offsets are slightly wrong, with 20 for the front ones (7 1/2) and 30 for the rears 33 (8)

Lexus (and I think Toyota in general) wheels won't mount on a Max.
