I know that is doesn't match the stock tire size....but in reality, after some calculations, this size is actually giving less speedo error than the very commonly used 235/45/17.
Why no one ever mentions 235/50/17? Any serious reason. I would guess - worse handling ?

This would be a great question to ask in the tire forum. There aren't any that I've seen using this sized tire though. Best bet is the 225/50 or 235/45

they told me that hard cornering with that tire would be a bad idea.

i ran 235/50 on my stock wheels for about a year with all kinds of aggressive driving or cornering. i experienced no problems or issues but after the year i went to a 17X7.5 wheel so i could run a wider lower profile tire. 235/50 does a good job of filling some of the stock wheel gap and is in spec for a 7.0" wheel.

I bought this size, Michelin Pilot Sport A/S, for my wife's 2003 GLE. This size is within spec for a 7" wide wheel. Great tire, much better ride. No problem.
