What's the widest size I could get to put on stock steel 15".

I want to go 225, but I don't think it's possible?
Maybe a 215?

 

I have 215's on my 15's... with 225's they'll look wider than the rim.

 

215 are stock size on the SEs. The steelies are what, 6" wide so a 215 could work. Some have gone 225(SE) and have reported no problems.

 

Yea but SE's are 16's. Stock for 15's is 205.. I think.

 

stock steels are 205/65/15's.

So, is 225 out of the question or is it just not safe...( what could be bad? I dunno. All I can think of is that it just wouldn't fit.)

 

I went 225 with my stock rims (15") on my SE. The rims were 6.5 wide tho. You probably should check to make sure your of your rims width or get an expert on the models to let you know if only the SE comes with 6.5 in. wide rims.

 

215/60/15 will definately fit, 225/60/15 will be close. Go to a tire place and check the recommended wheel widths for the tires that you want in the right size. Most places have a book that hass all of the manufacturer's recommendations right there. It is a liability thing to protect the manufacturers from idiots who use the wrong tires and want to sue.

 

when i bought my max 3 years ago it had 225/60/15, and when i replaced my tires recently i got the same size, its kind of a hard size to find, just look around lots
