Help, looking for lightweight 16" rims and wheels

I'm thinking about buying some lightweight 16's and getting rid of my 17's and I was wondering if anyone knows of some lightweight 16's that are out there. What are my options? I would like to keep the price down as much as possible and if you know of a brand, wheel weight, and price, please post it. Right now I have 17's that are 19lbs a piece and they are too heavy.

Only lightweight wheels I know of are SSRs and Volks. They cost a lot though. You can get used set from ebay pretty cheap.

SSR and Volks are not the only ones. What about Kosei, Work, Centerline, 5zigen (the FN01-R only), Enkei (some models), Velox (some models), etc.

But you're right about the cost part, to get some nice, lightweight, and forged Volks you need to shell out about $400-500 per wheel.

There are number of alternatives:
-getting replicas (e.g. Konig Sub-zeros are replicas of RacingHart CP-035)
-buying cast instead of forged
-getting wheels manufactured in Taiwan (most of cheaper ones sold all over the web are; like Exel wheels)
-looking for older models of wheels that are no longer in production which many shops will sell for less just to ged rid of them
-buying used
-etc.

You can always find a compromise between the weight and price aspects though. For example, Kosei K1 Racing 16x7.5 @15.5lbs $159 @tirerack.com.
These are not as light as Volk TE-37's but they're a good compromise and many Miata (and other) autocrossers will tell you that these Kosei's hold up quite well on the track as well as on the street.

I'm in the same predicament as rosamax except I want 17x8 wheels and can say that it's not easy finding top quality, lightweight wheels when you don't have $1500 or more to spend just on wheels. However, saving up and getting wheels from a reputable brand such as Volk, SSR, Work, HRE, Fikse, etc. is worth it.
