max tire width?

I posted this in the wheel/tire section also but since this has to do with 5th gen rims...

What is the max width I can run on my 16". Yes, the 16". I want to go 225 from my 215 but I am not sure if they will fit. Thanks.

Hi Eugene, by the book, if you have 16 x 6 or 6.5 then 225 is too wide, you should stick with 215, if your 7" + then your fine with the 225. When I had my 98 SE, I had install 225 on the stock wheel the tire was bulging a little but nothing major, other than that it ran fine.

Cheers

I think the stock 16" is only 6" wide. It might be 6.5 though.
I was told that it will bulge a little, but you would be okay to run 225 on stockies.
I will probably be getting some 225/45/16 soon.

I run stock wheels.
It will make your spedometer off by like 4 or 5 mph. If you are doing 60 mph, you will actually be doing like 55mph.

Will this adversly affect handling? I know the tire is wider but Im wondering if the side wall will be too flimsy. BTW, I can rock my car "side ways" on my 215/60/16's. HORRIBLE.
