What size tires to get for 18's

I'm getting the HP EVO Lightnings 18 X 8 Just wondering what tire size I should get because I don't know a great deal about the sizes.

245/40? or 235/40?

I would go with 245/40, that's what I have on my 18X7.5, and since you have 18X8 245s would definetly fit better than 235s.

Conrad, I got the same rims as you ordered. I'm leaning toward the 245/40. The diameter is closer than the 235.

I'm wondering why do so many guys go with the 235's?

More tires selection? Cheaper price?

The availability on the 235's is far superior than the 245's as well as slightly cheaper. I have 235's on my car right now because I have 17x8's ... So I won't really feel a difference. But I ordered the 235's today. 599.40 shipped to my door. The 245's were on back order, so I just went with what they recommended.

The 5th gens have a larger tire diameter than the 4th gens. 5th gens should use 245/40. 4th gens should use 235/40.

Don't go with Falkens, they are POS. Kumhos are almost the same price but far superior. Check tirerack's grading table for tires. Just remember: if you live in a state that gets snow go with all-season.

That's why the Pirelli's are perfect for me IMO. If I put them on to early or take them off too late it'll be ok if we get snow. Unlike my Yokohama AVS's which are so bad in the snow that you can't move at all.

Anyway. I ordered the tires from tirerack on Monday at about noon and when I got home from school at noon my mom told me that they were here. I was like holy crap, two days. Now all I need are my rims and then I'll be good to go

hmmm...I'm interested in where you get your info. All the reviews I've read on the 512's have been very good. I live in Wisconsin, and the 512's are all season tires, so they would be fine.

I've seen a lot of posts here on the org complaining about Kumhos. Which one are you referring to that's far superior to the 512's?

Tire Rack doesn't sell Falkens (I wish they did) so I didn't see any reviews of them on their site.

If you want a good cheap Max Performance Summer tire, you could try the Falken GRB FK451. I just bought these but I don't have them mounted yet . . . they look good and seem to have gotten pretty good reviews on other message boards and in some European magazines. The Falken site has some links to the European reviews.
