tire price?

last night at BJ's out of curiosity I asked the tire guy how much it would be..... $226/pc for the 17", I was stunned.

Is it out of line? what are you guy's paying..... I am not looking for high performance.. just reliable tires in all road conditions will do.

I paid $490 for a set of Continental Premier Touring 500AA (225-55-17) out of the door.

$226 per tire is WAY out of line unless you are going for the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S which usually goes between $190 to $225 per tire depending on where you go.

If you want a good, highly-rated, all-season, inexpensive tire, you might want to consider Falken Ziex ZE-512. This one can be ordered through Discount Tire Direct for $106 per tire with free shipping. You can then bring the tires some place to have them mounted (Costco can do all that for $10 a tire, I believe).

Some folks also like the Nitto NT-450 Extreme Performance ($109 per tire from Discount Tire Direct) for an all-season tire.

Peace.
