235 40 18 might be a little bit too high, no? 235 35 19 might be better. not sure though

235/40s will fit no problem, I have them on 18 x 8" rims. BUT, if I had to do it all over again, I'd get 245/40s instead. They have a slightly taller sidewall to help absorb bumps and if you plug them both into the tire calculator, the 245s are closer to original 225/50-17 OD than 235s are.

i never thought about getting 245/40's, i looked them up on ebay and they are exactly the same price as 235/40's, would it be smart to get those instead and will they even fit on a 18x7.5" wheel

My bro has 235/40-18 w/the Sumitomo HTR+. He previously had Pilot Sports. Let's just say you get what you pay for. I drive hard, and the HTR+ suck. You'll slide over crosswalk lines. These tires are slick w/hard compound and soft sidewalls, which makes for a bad combo for high speed stuff. Low speed, they may be ok.

If I'm in 1st, just rolling slowly by itself, and get on the gas, the tires will spin. The Pilots never did this. The craptenzas did. So perhaps it's fair to say these tires are equivalent to potenzas, which would make them an excellent deal (bang-for-buck).

The good thing about the HTR+ is they're probably good for snow. The Pilots were ok. Oh, and HTR+ treadwear looks to be very very good. He's had them for 4 months now and still lookin good.

When I had 235/40-18 on my Max, I went with Kumho 712. Another bang-for-buck tire. Definitely a huge step above HTR+ for the same price.

I just put some 225/50-17 512's on my friend's Camry. They're ok. Nothing special. They're "performance" tires, not "high performance" so don't expect anything out of them. In fact, I found his car fun to lose the rear end w/stock suspension cuz it's easy to find the traction limits.
