Feeback for Hankook Ventus HRII H405 tires

Link to tires

I wanted to know if anyone here has these tires or has had any prior experiences with them. I'll be replacing my Cra-potenzas RE92s soon and need some high-performance all-season tires. I want tires that will complement my lowered 4th gen as I like to corner at speeds higher than those recommended by the DOT so handling is a high-priority concern. In fact, here're my priorities when looking for tires:

1. Handling
2. Dry/wet traction
3. Snow traction
4. Treadwear
5. Comfort
6. Noise

Anyone have any recommendations for 225/50/17 tires? I was also looking at Turanza-Z tires but after my experience with the RE92s, I'm not sure how much I trust Bridgestones.

Pilot Sport All Season in 225/50/17 or 235/50/17 are the best that you can get. DO NOT get another set of bridgestones, or you will suffer the same fate as the craptenzas. Now, if you arent in the market to spend around a grand for tires, you might wanna look at nitto555s or falken azenis. It all depends on what you want to spend.

Thanks for the quick response! I'm a bit price-conscious right now as I have a tuition bill coming up in August but NEED to replace the RE92s. At $105/tire, I thought they'd be a great buy.

Try the nittos, I think you should be happier with those than the blowtenzas

I just checked the Nitto website; I don't think they make a 225/50/17 555 model. Rim size is 17x7 if it makes any difference for the ratio.

One of my friends/fellow .org member has these same Hankooks and he hates them. He said wet traction really sucks on these. I've never had first hand experience with these tires though.

I have the Hankook Ventus K104's which are awesome tires, but there summer only.

Honestly, if you're looking for tires of that specific size, it's going to be
1) Harder to find "all-season" tires
2) Almost impossible to get good traction in the snow as is.

For my experiences though, I'm a die-hard Bridgestone (CRA)Ptenza S03/Kumho MX owner. The S03 and MX were both designed by the same person, and have EXTREMELY similar characteristics.

On a scale of 1-10:
Straight line (braking/accel)(dry): 8
Straight line (braking/accel)(wet): 7
Handling (lateral)(dry) : 9
Handling (wet) : 10 ****
Road Noise : Virtually none.
Snow : 3 ***
Treadwear : 7 **

Notes:

**** The wet handling on the tire is the best I have ever experienced. It is so good, there is very little loss in wet handling over dry handling. It is really amazing. And I live in Rochester, I know what crappy weather is.

*** Driving in the snow in these tires (as compared to using snow tires usually) the tires will get you from A to B in the snow. Confidence is low. They're summer tires. You wouldn't last a week in Rochester in the winter with these, especially at an increased width.

** The treadware, for a very high performance tire, is very good, especially in relation to the traction. I find myself going through "higher mileage" tires faster than with these tires, primarily because I'm a hard driver. I get better wear than with Nitto 555's, 450's, Craptenza RE092s, Kumho 712's, and so on.

yes that org member is me.

Ventus 405's are by far the $hittiest tires ever made, infact worse than the RE92's.

A few days after i bought them (235/40/18 size) it was raining. I was spinning tires in 3rd gear, 4th gear. Sometimes induce spin in 5th gear.

But if you try and start the car in 1st gear with more than 10% throttle, it SPINS!!

POS.. even in the corners when wet, it hydroplanes like no tommorrow, andare the most dangerous tires i ever bought.

DO NOT BUY THESE TIRES. Right now i have had them on my car for about 2 months, and all i do now with them is SMOKE THEM on purpose. Because thats all they are good for.

If you value yoour life, spend a bit more get better tires.

Wow, the forums are finally up

I have my 245/40ZR19's at 41psi up front, and 38psi in the rear. My wheel/tire installer put it at that and I've found it to work great.

I also have the k104's in 245/35/19 and i like them the wet traction is sooo much better then the craptenzas(anything is these days ) the tire is wider so that does make a difference also. But for the price i couldnt go wrong. I ordered them from the same place nathan did. (east coast tires direct) they have an ebay store but i called them up and ordered and they shipped asap no problems whatsoever.

OT : nate your headlights look good.

Thanks for the compliment! I didn't know that you could just order over the phone with east coast tires, good to know. I would definetly buy the K104's again if I had to buy new tires. As you said, wet traction is much better than the craptenza's.

yea i was going to order the k104's from some other place but i was a little skeptical about them and saw that you had a good experience w/eastcoast so i gave them a call...i wasnt originally going to get the k104's but after hearing some nice th ings about them i decided to try them out. a lot of tires in the size i wanted are like sold out for a while. and i didnt want to drop a sh*tload of cash just for tires...as it is i paid more for the tires than the wheels

My brother has the HRII in 225/40/18 on his legend and wet traction is sooooo good. that tread looks good and performs good. Never tested it much on dry road, not an aggressive driver.
