Kumho ECSTA 711 or Supra 712

Ok, they really need to get that seach function working for us regular members.

I'm planning on getting a 3rd set for my 90 Max, currently I have the stock rims with studded snow tires, motegi 15" with a set of Douglas for Traveling. Now I'm looking to get some 17" rims for around town and at the local drag strip.

Both the 711 and the 712 are in my price range. I'm looking to see if anyone here has run either of these tires before, and what they thought.

Thanks ahead for any info.

Currently I am running on 712. Great dry/wet handling. One time I drove pass a pool of water (during heavy rain) while I was making a turn. The water jet went above my car, which can tell you either how fast I was going or how deep the water is. Anyway, during that turn, I never lose control or hydroplan.

On snow, it is a totally different story. It was light snow (<1 inch for sure, and it was just started). All I can say is it is the most scary driving experience I ever had.

If the SD stands for SOUTH DAKOTA, get a 2nd set of winter tires. When it's below 40f these tires are DANGEROUS. They take 10-20 miles to warm up depending on how cold it is.

GREAT dry/wet tire for 60+ weather. Great for the money as well

You guys should not run the 712 or 711 in very cold tempertaures, even if there isn't any snow or ice. They are "summer" (ie, warm weather) tires.

Ok, read it slow people. Of course I'm going to use these for the summer. Around town, and the local drag strip. Nothing in the entire original post did it say anything about using the Khumo's for winter. Plus, it's gets around 100 degrees in the summer.

Thanks for those who posted their experiences with the tires.

My post was directed more towards SunMax and other readers, really..... some people don't seem to know about this.

Actually I meant to direct it more towards Bags. With having been around here so long, I figured he would have known to read the whole post.

I've made up my mind though. I'm going with a set of Kazera KZ-T wrapped in Kumho ECSTA Supra 12.

I know you made up your mind, but I thought I'd chime in and say that I've read reviews on other car boards that say the 711's have very soft sidewalls for a summer performance tire. Just thought I'd add that.
