Cooper Lifeliner Touring SLE (H/V Rated) for 2003 GLE
Cooper Lifeliner Touring SLE (H/V Rated) for 2003 GLE
My 03 GLE Turanza (OEM) are about to go and I want to stick with the OEM size 215/55/R17 for my rim. But found limited choices. Does anyone have this set Cooper Lifeliner Touring 215/55/R17 in your Max? Can you share your thoughts on how this performs in (wet, snow and noise)? I am not a hard driver and I use my max for daily commute (Highways and local roads) so comfort and safety is a priority.
I seen previous post on the Falken 512's (225/50/R17) and noticed the overwhelming issue with the shaking. Thus I want to stay away with that one for now. Any of you guys are riding on that? Thanks in advance.

A guy I work with has the Cooper Lifeliner SLE on his Acura. When I asked him about them he didn't give me any details about how they performed but he said he was happy with them. I was surprised when he told me he had about 15,000 miles on them because they looked almost new.
Here's the Consumer Reports rundown on them:
Dry Braking - Very Good
Wet Braking - Fair
Handling - Very Good
Hydroplaning - Good
Rolling Resistance - Poor
Snow Traction - Good
Ice Braking - Fair
Ride - Very Good
Noise - Very Good
A local shop quoted me a set of 4 for a little over $600 installed. If you're looking for a relatively inexpensive tire that you can buy locally, they're probably not a bad choice. But I decided on the Touranza LS-V - $154 each from TireRack. I'll have for on my car for about $710 total.

I removed & sold nearly-new Pilot A/S and replaced them with the Turanza LS-V's.....best tire I ever had. They will flat-spot a bit in cold weather but other than that -sweet
I recently got the Cooper Lifeliner SLE tires on my 02 Maxima. I got them in size 225/50/R17 V-rated. They cost me $663 balanced and installed.
They are considerably better in the wet weather. There is one hill I would be spinning tire until 4th gear when I had the Potenzas, now with the Coopers I don't have that problem and can go up that hill without spinning. Hence, I'm referring to climing this same hill during heavy rain.
There is slightly more tire noise with the Coopers, especially when you are accellerating you can hear it. But I'm not complaining.
