205 or 215 stock tire size?

Hi guys. There is no sticky for my question so please dont flame me. I have "Douglas Performance tires" which arn't even sold on tirerack, they say 205/55-16.

I have the GXE 2000 maxima. On tire rack it says original equipment is 215/55-16 not 205/55-16. I'm going to be spending my grocery money on Michelin Pilot Sport or Bridgestone pole positions.

1.I really want to know If I can get 215s even if these crappy tires say 205's on them.

2.Are "Douglass performance" tires that bad? I think they might be the cheapest tires the origional owner would pay for? No one I know has ever heard of them.

Thanks for any help you guys could give.

Never heard of douglas. They are probably a private brand tire made by one of the big tire companies and just rebaged. The size that is on the car now doesn't mean anything, they are obviously not stock so the previous owner could have put any size on there and he obviously went with the cheapest ones he could find....he didn't even want to pay the extra for the wider size.

215/55-16 would be the correct choice for your car. Douglas tires are sold in Wal-Mart.... don't know who makes them though...

I guess these are the ones you have:

Thanks 20V. The bastard dealer that sold the car to me gave me not only crappy wal-mart tires but a smaller size too. Thanks for the help guys.
