yes, i had 235/55 17's on my back wheels, on the stock SE wheels. Worked fine, i actually liked the way they looked over the 225/50.

You ran 235/55... I would like to know about 225/55... I don't think it should be much of a difference just a slightly higher sidewall. Obviously I am not looking for Extreme sport action in this Max - it is my better halfs daily driver. Potenza's are getting dangerous.

225/55/17 will add quite a bit of sidewall. Can you not get the same deal on the correct size?

No, I can't. That is why I am asking. Doesn't seem like many are running this tire.

I don't think anyone is running those because it doesn't really add much of a difference. Like stated before, it's just a little bit more of a sidewall. If you can get them for cheaper i'd do them. They look a little better in the back IMO, they fill in the gap a bit more. or maybe it's just me.

I think I remember one member a while back (JJS ?) saying that he was running on 225/55-17 tires and he was quite happy with them. I believe they will work fine.

I seriously considered (researched) them but went with 225/50's in the end on stock GLE rims. I've read a few related threads here and all were generally positive. The only thing I recall was a comment that noted "the space between the tread surface and the rear factory splash guards if you have them might be tight." I believe that was 225/55's on stock GLE rims as well (slightly different offset than your SE rims).
