running 225/60s on my sawblades. concerns
I bought the maxi at 81k with 225/60-15 on sawblades, right now I'm about 88.5k. I had the tires rotated at around 85k. Had the tread checked today and I have 1/32" on the fronts and 3/32". I checked using the penny/quarter method and seem to measure 3/32" and 5/32". Just curious as to why firestone and approximate measures are not even remotely close.
Also, if I had a rotation done after 4k of having the car, why are my tires so worn down in front than in the rear? Would the oversized tire attribute to this? I don't burnout or anything.
last thing: the winter season is coming up. Worst case scenario, should I keep more tread up front or in the back? What can I do to 'just get by' the snow? ie. underinflating. Thanks for the replies and the flaming too i guess, [second time posting here]

I had 225/60/15s on my 4th gen.... no problems with uneven tire wear... if 1 pair is more worn than the other.... I would expect that the previous owner was not very consistant about tire rotation..... the reason for measure diff.... I would think #1 the shop wants to sell you new tires... so when they measure them they are looking of the lowest spot of may even be checking the amount above the wear bar... when you check them you are checking the best part of the tread.. and distance till slick not wear bar.....If the tires are wearing evenly across the tire... I would just move the tires with the best tread up front and keep an eye on the tires until you replace them.. 2/32 to 3/32 is normally the discard # used by the tire companys... and that is the aprox depth of the wear bar.... so add the wear bar to Firestones #'s and you can guess how they were coming up with their #'s
