Falken ZIEX 512 Tire Review

In a nut shell they lasted 16700 miles (tread depth @ 3/32) and 14 months. Overall they preformed well in snow & rain but new tires every 14-15 ,months is a bit much. They were rotated every 4K and the majority of the miles were to and from my office, about 160/wk. No track days, drag or autocross.
Falken did stand behind their 30K warranty with a fair offer even though the local dealer tried to blame the wear on about everything he could think of to deny my claim.

hmmm so you have to get 30k??? i bought mine real real dirt cheap with warranty so even if my tires get slashed i can have it replaced free...i have about 7k miles on them and about 15-20 runs at the track and heavy abuse on the roads....hope to change mine in less then a year from now

16,700 is not good. I have them and I'll be pi**ed if they only last that long.

its funny how people complain yet do nothing about it...if you have premature tread wear take it up with a falken tech advisor dont take the guy that sold them to you word for it...well either way good luck hope something works out.

What can a Falken tech rep do about a design or cost improvement flaw??? ---Diddly squat--- Soft side walls are a design/manufacturing costs issue that cannot be solved at the sales center level.

Buying tires is not like buying shoes. My comments are directed at those who shouldn't try these for fit. I sure hope my set lasts a year cause I can't stand the lack of turn in precision and wiggling these POS 512s give my car, even at 47 psi.

I did deal with Falken directly but the local dealer has to recevie the credit not you.

Dude -- 47PSI what in the h*ll are you doing. No wonder they ride like crap. It probably feels like you're driving on solid steel wheels. You should have these tires in the 32-35 range for proper handling.

On the contrary. My Crapenzas at 35 psi rode harsher than the 512s at 40 psi. At 32-35 psi the 512s feel like marshmellows. So at 40 and by 44 and 46 psi they start to feel a little more compliant. The side walls are too damn soft. 47 psi is an lousy attempt to make the 512s feel as tight as the Azenis...

This is exactly why I bought the G009 Bridgestones. I can't afford to replace tires every 20k miles. Hell, I only got 33k from dunlop A2's that were supposed to last 50k. Just everyday driving, no track, no burnouts. Maxima's are hard on tires!!

About them Azenis's, I've heard more negative comments about them than the 512s......i think a few people could attest.

There is more than one Azenis tire in their line. Look up the RT line (check out the 615).

Just got word today that the Falkens I ordered and was told were in stock are actually backordered for 90 days. This is unreal since I need an inspection this month.

It's a sign.

Check this site out. http://www.tyretest.com/pkw_sommerre...512/index.html
I can't understand what the hell most of these guys said other than the "no way". It's obvious they weren't happy with the wear rates...

like they say opinions are like **** holes do research and get a tire that you are happy with and stick to them. I cant help to be partial to falken because i work for the company but definetly shop around and get something that you think it worth it. Alot of people love the 512 some dont..

Why is the 512 classified as sommer tryres and All Season tyres ??? And it's not Ziex and it says some junk Ohtsu ... Seems falkens got two different tyres and the summer tires obviously got bad rating coz they are bad in snow/rain conditions anyways

Dude, Google Sumitomo, Ohtsu and GoodYear. Falken was Ohtsu and is a joint venture between Sumitomo and GY. As for whay they are summer, don't know.
