how much is mount/balance usually?

I've gotten a quote for 4 falken ziex512 mounted and balance for 300. How is that price?

I think about $20 mounted & balanced is what you should expect to pay. At least that's what I'm finding in my area. That's per tire by the way.

i pay $10 a tire, for regular ones atleast.

$300? They trying to rip you off. Should be less than $20 per wheel.

If you bought the tires and/or rims from that shop, they should do the mount/balance for free. If you're just bringing it to them, I think the usual charge is $20 per tire or less. At least for the bigger chains. I go to Discount Tire almost exclusively b/c they treat me really well. Great customer service, awesome prices, and now that they know me, even free work sometimes...

I got my first set of wheels and tires mounted and balanced at Walmart, for like 40 bucks, and got free balance and rotation every 3,000 miles. but that was about 2.5 years ago.

I read the original post as $300 for buying 4 tires, mounted and balanced, not $300 for mounting/balancing. If thats the case then it's a good deal. But as Triple said, a decent tire shop should mount for free.
