42mm Offset

Saw some rims I like:

http://www.enkei.com/HPSpecPAGES/rpo3Specs.html

However it has a 42mm offset...is that problematic? What tire size would be recommended to go along with these?

If you are thinking of getting some 18s, get 18x8.5 w/ 35mm offset. For tires, use 245/40/18s.

18x7.5 will work fine as well. Same as stock '04+ Maxi. With 245, a 35mm offset would look better and fill the rear wells out. With 235's, a 30mm offset would probably work.

You want to take wheel width and offset into consideration; not tire width and offset.

I definitely recommend going w/ at least 8" wide rims.

My post was concerning 7.5" wheels which are easier to find. Circumference on a 245 is 1" greater than a 235. If you are running a 30mm offset, this may cause some rubbing of the outside wheel well "inner lining". Better safe than sorry?

So it looks like 19 x 8.5 with a 42mm offset will work depending on the tire? Will it stick out too much?

I was looking into getting those wheels in 19's, but I wanted a lower offset.

so a higher offset (42mm) means that the wheel will stick out too much correct?

you generally want a lower offset on a wider rim so it will look flush, the reason why the stock rims' offset is so high is because it is only a 7 inch wide rim.

The lower the offset the farther the wheels will stick out. 35mm rims will stick out further than a 45mm offset rim.

The only problem with the lower offsets for all wheels is that the front wheels will stick out further. I have 18x7.5" rims with 40mm offset. Adding a 10mm spacer to the back will change it to a 30mm offset which will make it look better and more equal to the fronts.

Ummmm NO. Wider wheels you get, you need higher offset.

For 5th gens, 8.5" wide with 35-40mm offset will be perfect all around.
Yes, 8" wheels with a 35mm offset would make them stick out more than the stockers, but if you want the rims to look flush instead of sunken like the stock rims, wouldn't that suffice?

Not necessarily. If you got wider wheels, and a higher offset, the wheels would stick out more than if you had a smaller offset. 18x8.5+35mm would be closer to being flush than 18x8.5+45mm, which would be sticking out a lot.

See the "quickie" image below:

The first diagram shows a 45mm offset. That means, the center section of the rim is +45mm from the true center of the rim. This makes the rim "sit in" further from the lip of the fender. The second diagram shows a 35mm offset. Since the offset is -10mm from the 45mm offset rim, the wheel will "stick out" more and be closer to the lip of the fender in comparison to the 45mm variation.

Make sense?

What do you guys think of these wheels ? I need some LIGHT wheels and I'm conteplating on whether get Enkei RPF1s 18x8.5 with 30mm offset, I have big calipers to clear on my Maxima and anything smaller than 35mm will rub.

Or these

http://www.enduromotorsports.com/RaysGTP.html in a similar size ?

I want something light, wide, and no cheap **** like ADR, Velox, etc.

TET- I went to your site, the pictures are not working for all the 5th gen parts, I wanted to see more pictures of the RPF1s on your car. I currently have 17x8 38mm offset Enkei RPO1s and they barely clear my TTZ calipers on 04 Maxima rotors. I am going to get a set of new wheels in the spring, any places you would recomend to buy from ? inexpessive ? I'm looking at Advan RGs, TE37s, SSR Comps, GT-Ps, few Work wheels, and Nismo wheels for 350Z. I was almost set on the Nismos, but decided to take a look at other wheels in the 2K dollar price range.

This is excellent information. THANKS EVERYONE. So that means, 19 x 8.5 with a 42mm offset (which concerns the trims I want in the beginning of this thread) will most likely cause rubbing issues with the inside, and it won't even look flush with the fender. Am I correct?

So does anyone actually have a 42mm offset rim? I'm trying them on this weekend, so I'll let you know whether it rubs and how it looks...

They won't rub. I had 18x8.5 SSRs 42mm offset w/ S-Tech drop.
